My plan for today
So here is my plan for the day.
Breakfast: Shake with simply smart milk and 1 tablespoon Peanut butter
Snack: I have found with the shake I really don't need one, but I have greek yogurt if I need it.
Lunch: Tuna made with fat free miracle whip and Kashi crackers
Snack: Apple and Peanut butter.
Dinner: Hummm not really sure. We had steak tips last night, so I am thinking pork sirloin baked potato and veggie
I wish I could have something other than potato at dinner. I really cannot eat rice at all. It gets really stuck. Anyone have any suggestions?
Tomorrow is going to be a challenge for me. We are having our friend/family Christmas celebration and a bonfire after. Several people want chinese food, which I have not had since my surgery 16 months ago!! We then have all kinds of food coming in: Chili, beef stew, meatballs, soups....and I am making my famous mulled cider. (I found apple pie liquor to add to it!!!) But I need to clean and decorate Friday night and Saturday, and then just having fun that night. I think I am not going to stress....and I have enough people who know I have had the surgery around me for support.

Martha,
You will do great tomorrow. Just enjoy the company and stay away from the food table as much as possible. Carry a big glass of water in one hand, then you won't be able to hold a plate AND eat from it with the other hand because you'll need both hands (I hope I can listen to my own advice when we have our family holiday party!).
Anyway, instead of potato, have you ever tried quinoa? It's a whole grain, sort of like couscous. At Stop & Shop, it's in the natural food section. There's also a whole grain thing put out by Near East. I think it's actually called Whole Grain or Great Grains or something like that. It's with the rice. The thing with potatoes is that they're really high on the glycemic index chart. You could also substitute with sweet potatoes, which aren't as high on the chart.
My plan has already flopped for today. I started out with a shake, but we had a chambers luncheon here at work and ordered out from Tiya's, which is Thai food. Rum cake for dessert. Tonight, we're going to Peking Garden. And I won't have time to get to the gym. Oh well, tomorrow's another day.
You have a great time tomorrow. If you do eat a little more than you want (or should), don't stress over it. Remember the 5 second rule!
