I will be having my surgery done by Dr. Gens.  Were you given any samples of the different protein powers/shakes by the drs or the Nut?

I did not receive any samples of protein shakes.  I started out with Carnation Instant Breakfast, and then tried several different kinds of shakes.  People from the post op group have said that Maximum Protein from GNC and Muscle Milk Light are both good.  I like FitSmart.  It is really just finding what you personally like.  Many place such as Herbal Path in Dover have single packets of shake mixes so you can try it out before buying the larger size.  I also think that GNC has them too.  You can also find samples online. 

Nashua Nutrition sells samples of many of their protein powders.  You can look on their website to see which ones they have available as samples.
