Hi Shawna, and welcome.  Congratulations on completing the hardest part of the program!!  What surgery are you having?  I think no matter which one you have the one piece of advice that is good for both is keep losing weight.  Do not get comfortable even though you have made your goal.  If you are 1 pound over on your surgery date, they will cancel!  So just keep focused.  Remember, the more you lose before your surgery, the less you have to lose after.  If you are having RNY and you will be staying in the hospital, bring an mp3 player, iPod, or something you can listen to.  Also, chapstick!

You will love the losing side of the bench, and we are always willing to make more room!!!

Thank you so much :)  I am having the RNY. I heard that they are pretty strict about those before surgery pounds so I am bustin my butt lol. The ideas about the Ipod and chapstick are wonderful! Those are the things I am looking for, ya know the things the surgeons don't mention. Very excited to be a part of the group here.
Thanks
Again!

Oh and one other thing....You WILL gain weight in the hospital....a lot of weight, like 10+ pounds, so do not weigh yourself for at least a week after you get home

Welcome Shawna!!
Congratulations on making the best decision of your life!! I know it's a very difficult one to make and takes a lot of courage. Good for you!
Any questions just fire away. Yes it's very important to keep the weight off now. And start walking if you can. I lost 55 lbs pre surgery and I began walking daily a couple months prior. I think it helped me physically, mentally and emotionally.
Remember what you learned in the classes with Jeff - they made a huge difference for me. I really took note and I continue to use the information I learned there.
Let us know when you get your date! Good Luck :)

WOWSERS Rosemary!!!
I can't belive the amount of weight you have taken off. When I looked at your weight ticker I almost died. I usually hear 65-100lb weight loss but boy oh boy you have done amazing! I admire you for all your hard work and dedication. I am a little nervous but I know I have made the right decision. I hope I am as successful as you. Thank you so much for commenting and I will be sure to update with my surgery date.
Thanks!

Hi Shawna,

Welcome!  I am scheduled for my RNY on Nov 23 with Dr. Looser.  I just had my last appt w/him pre-op and got the same "Disclaimer" about being even 1lb over goal.  I'm bustin' my butt at the gym hoping to lose enough to make up for the bloating I'll be experiencing right around my surgery, lol.
Keep in touch about how you're doing.  I've been on & off OH for a long time, but now that I have finally made it to this point, I'm on here much more often.
Best of luck!
Bamma - thanks for the iPod advice, I probably wouldn't have thought of it, but will make sure mine is packed!

You are welcome!!!  I wish I had mine, but I had not planned on staying overnight.  It really helps with blocking out that noise!!

Good luck with surgery.  You will do great, and keep going to the gym, and keep losing.  Keep us posted, and we will see you on the other side.
