Today's Plan - anyone else want to participate?
My plan for today is:
My usual breakfast - Greek yogurt and granola!
Snack - I still have cheese in the fridge at work, so I will have a cheese stick if hungry. I will drink at least 32 ounces of water between breakfast and lunch.
Lunch - I have a baked chicken patty left over from last night's dinner. I am going to get a salad to go with it.
Snack - depends on how late I eat lunch, but I need to eat dinner before 7:00, and it has to be eating out, so I think I will get a chili at Wendy's with a side salad. I will drink another 32 ounces of water between lunch and dinner.
I have dodgeball tonight, so I will not go to the gym. My game is not until 8:15, so I thought I would go to the mall and walk to stretch out for a bit. My game is 45 minutes +/- and I usually play almost all of the sets. I think I sat out two last week.
I won't get home until about 9:30 so it will be a cup of tea to unwind and bed.
I read your and Kathy's post to me last night. At about 6:00 I ate a protein bar and when I got home about 8:15 I had half of a pb&j sandwich and some rice work chips. I feel like I do get enough protein. There is 23g in each scoop of my protein powder (I do 2 scoops per day) and 15g in the protein bar. I do have to concentrate on more water though. I didn't get any more in yesterday. Lately I have been buying SoBe Life water because I can't stand the (non)-taste of regular water and I can't do artificial sweeteners.
This thread is making me conscious and that's good.
Lisa
I love this thread too. It is so easy to stray from the rules, and once that starts, it becomes a really slippery slope. I was on a toboggan (sp?) on that slope, so it feels good to be able to put the brakes to it.
What are rice work chips?
It sounds like you do get enough protein, but I would just add that you should try to get the bulk of your protein from real food as opposed to shakes and bars, although who am I to say? If that's what works for you, then you should keep doing it. That's just what they told us at Tufts, so I thought I'd pass it along.
The water is so tough. Presurgery, I used to drink buckets of water, but it's been my biggest ongoing challenge post-surgery.
Have a great day!
Kathy
Rice Works are whole grain brown rice crisps. They are wheat & gluten free as well as vegan and celiac friendly. My friend who is a vegetarian told me about them.
So far the protein in my drinks/bars has been doing it for me. I know I would not get enough protein without them. And the BNRG protein bars sort of taste like a "treat."
I was like you pre-surgery. I would drink tons of water (96oz/day.) Now I just can't. I'm lucky to get in 48oz/day now.
Off to run errands!
Lisa
Sound like you have a very busy day coming up today. I think it's especially important on days like this to have that plan in place because you won't have time to think about what you're doing while you're running around. Today will turn out to be a great day for you!
I stayed on plan again yesterday, except that I did have 1 T. reduced fat peanut butter because I actually would have come up short on my calories without it. I ate it with my square of chocolate. Yummy! (I'm out of PB2 so I have to order some.)
My plan today is:
Breakfast - same shake as every day. I find that if I don't start the day with my shake, I'm all out of sorts, so that's what I always have. I've been drinking the same shake almost everyday for the last two years, and I'm not sick of it yet. I hope that never happens because - then what would I do for breakfast???
Snack - Light cottage cheese with cherries & pineapple and a slice of Abigail's cinnamon raisin toast and 1/2 tsp. Smart Balance Light margarine.
Lunch - Well, hubby and I didn't go out for dinner last night. Instead, he made South Beach crab cakes, which I love. So I have those leftovers along with some couscous (made without adding the olive oil) and fresh asparagus or stir-fried vegetables.
Dinner - I'm still craving those Pinkerton Tavern steak tips. I don't have any tips in the freezer, but I had a big Porterhouse, so I'm thawing that for tonight (which hubby and I will share), probably with a baked potato with a little spray butter and some kind of fresh veggie. I have a lot veggies in the fridge to choose from: brussels sprouts, more asparagus, summer squash, pumpkin, broccoli, peppers.
Snack - If I stay good all day, I'll have that piece of chocolate again.
Exercise today may not be as intense as it has been this week. I need to go to a couple of banks, so I'll walk to both of them, but because I have to "stop" to do the banking, I probably won't get anywhere near the 3 miles I did on Monday and Tuesday. I just hope the rain holds off until after lunch.
Everything will get recorded in Fitday.
And finally, I want to try and concentrate on the water again. I have a hard time with that. I did get in around 50 oz. yesterday, which is actually really good for me. Always striving for that 64 oz. though.
Have a great day!
Kathy
that is so awesome Kathy. I think it is funny we both decided we had to get on the scale today. I think we needed that confirmation that what we are doing is working!
I got into work today, and went to get a bowl for my yogurt, and there was that chocolate again. So, I took the bag, and emptied it into the jar in the front office (where the person is that BOUGHT the chocolate). Now I cannot see it everytime I go into the kitchen.
I was thinking while eating my breakfast that it is so good I have a plan today, because being busy, I probably would not have done as well as I have. I have never really been a planner, but I think that I will be from now on. It is so much easier!
Lisa, you are doing terrific. I am glad that you have joined in. I am also very happy to hear you ate last night. Skipping meals is NOT an option with us!!! So good job. Oh and I am absolutely loving going to the gym again. I also found out that Planet Fitness is putting a gym in 5 minutes from my house!!! I am soooo excited!!
Sounds like you ALL are doing fabulous! I'm pleased to say that I am as well. I'm down 77lbs (in 4 mos.)! - My activity has increased and I keep track of everything I consume on fitday. I find that if I log it I am accountable. The weeks that I didn't log I lost 1 lb or less so needless to say, I log everyday now. Thanks to Lisa's recommendation I have incorportated Jazzercise into my exercise regimen. Although I still feel like I have two left feet it is one heck of a workout. My average weight loss since I began is between 2-3lbs a week. I feel like I am losing inches and gaining confidence. Thanks Lisa! :) - I drink water and hot tea and just like you ladies I remain mindful of my intake. I use to drink water non-stop and now not nearly as much (I'm still coordinating not drinking with eating and as a result I do not get in as much as I'd like).
The greek yogurt with granola sounds good. How many calories?
