October Exercise Challenge week 5
First let me say - Martha and Kathy you ladies are great, strong and real woman. We all struggle on our journeys and you both are very brave and smart to talk about it here. I know you both will do just fine. You have all the tools and you use them!! Remember one thing - YOU control the food - Food no longer controls you!! You have the power to change your course. And you will.
Sometime I feel very overwhelmed with this new life. It's very hard to always have to think about what you put in your mouth and how much you've exercised. But then again it was not thinking that got me to 317 lbs. I'm anxious about the holidays too. The credit union is actually doing a holiday program to help us maintain our weight. We weigh in on November 19th and have some nutritional education and seminars throughout the holiday season. then we weigh in again on January 10th I believe. All the participants get entered into a contest to win a paid day off in 2010.
I know this will help me be more accountable. We could do something like that on here.

Last week I got in 355 minutes. My total for the month was 1420. I'm running another 5K this Sunday so I've been training. I'm a very slow runner but I've stopped beating myself up over it. I have short legs and they'll only go so fast :)

Hi Rosemary,
Kathy and I are so lucky to have friends like you, Lisa and everyone else on this board, and in our lives. Kathy, what an amazing decision you made yesterday, and it has made me even more determined to make it though this with you. Rosemary, you are such an inspiration to me. All four of us are so close in age, and we are proof that you can do anything despite our age, so everyone else needs to stop the age excuse!!! Even me!!! Lisa, you are an awesome person and friend. I am so fortunate to have friends like you in my life right now.
I think that is such a great plan that your work has Rosemary. I work with two people who are super skinny, and keep bringing candy and other stuff into the office. There are times that I just want to wrap myself in a cocoon and hide from the rest of the world, but I know that is not what to do at all.

Thanks so much for your support, Rosemary. I am really motivated now (probably because I finally admitted out loud that I am having a hard time). The holidays do worry me, but there's something about having a concrete plan that is comfortable to me now. I know that sounds really strange, but lately I've been eating whatever I want without really thinking about it. Now that I'm thinking about everything that goes into my mouth, I feel more at ease, probably because it's what I've done all my life, successfully or not.
You make me laugh - you're worried about being a slow runner???? OMG, I think it's so inspiring that you're running at all. You go, girl - you are doing great things. Good luck with that 5K!
