Planet Fitness

Hi all,

Just looking for input regarding Planet Fitness.  I'm getting ready to join a gym, and their cost is so much less expensive than some of the others, I'm wondering if it's "all that".
I Googled and got some pros and cons - just thought I'd ask if anyone in NH has any experience with them - good or bad.

Thanks!

right now you can join for $1.00 and it's only $10.00 a month and that rate is locked in as long as you are a member. There's only a 1 time annual fee of $29.00 and that's Oct 1 every year but skips this year. They have a good 30 minute circut that makes it easy to do a 30 minute workout. I cancelled my membership @ Golds and joined here with my OH exercise partner in the Manchester location.

I go to PF and I like it. Well, I like it about as much as you can like a gym! The best part (for me) is the hours. I work weird hours so I have the option to go before and after work, I like that. I have the black card so I like that I can go to any of their gyms, no matter where I happen to be I can always find a way to squeeze in a workout. Also, they have lots of cardio machines so, even at busy times, you can always find something to do. They have plenty of weight machines too.  They also offer free sessions with their trainers. I was reluctant to do that but I got over my issues and met with him. He was nice and designed an entire workout plan for me and even showed me how to use all the machines the right way. For the price, I think it is definitely worth it. If you are motivated enough to get yourself there and work out by yourself on the machines, then you'll like it. If you are the type of person that needs a group setting or prefers classes, then you might want to look into different options.

I go to the works health and fitness center in somersworth. but it can be expensive but they offer so much 3 pools indoor and outdoor and tons of classes and free nutrition counseling and you get 3 free trainer sessions when you join right now its 30.00 to join and 30.00 a month but I would never go anywhere else i did deep water aerobics last night and then step class and next I am taking a Zumba dance class so many options so i never get bored! love it!!

I like Planet Ftiness! I go to the Derry location and I took advantage of the $99 per year plus no other fee promotion they offer about twice per year. In fact, if you sign up now during the $1 registration, $10 per month promotion, when the $99 one comes around again, you can switch no problem.

The weight area is very nice and there are plenty of cardio machines. However, if you like classes, they don't offer them, though, they do have personal trainor sessions. For the money and for my interests (not a classes person), it is a good deal.

Thanks for all of the input.

For what I currently want, the location and the cost, it definitely sounds like the way to go.

I have been going to planet fitness in Rochester for about 10 years.  I have seen many changes, and they definately listen to their members.  I like the hours, the amount of equipment they have.  they have updated everything.  I have the black card which allows me to go to any of their gyms, but if there is one in particular that is close by, the latest promotion is awesome.  I also like that it includes tanning.  I only use it in the winter, but it is so much cheaper than buying a light to treat my seasonal issues.  I go to an outside trainer, but she is leaving the area in December, so I will probably meet with the in house one after.  I have heard many good things about him. I agree with Holly though, if individual workouts is not for you, then neither is planet fitness.  the works or synergy would be a better choice.

I am an official Planet Fitness member.  I joined on Sunday, and had my surgery on Tuesday.  There will be no excuse this winter for not getting my walking in.
