Yummy protein shake

Hi everyone,

I think I have said on here before that I LOVE Syntrax Nectar protein powder.  Well, I bought the Caribbean Cooler flavor (kind of coconuty tasting) and I didn't love it.  I was drinking it to get rid of it then thought I would try to mix another flavor with it.  Soooo, I mixed 1 scoop of the CC and 1 scoop of the Roadside Lemonade and it is YUMMMMMY!  Now I need a way to LOVE my cappuccino flavor....  I might just have to grin and drink it (it kind of has a fake sugary taste, to me.)  Anyway, you can get the Syntrax at Nashua Nutrition, Vita Cost or Bodybuilding.com (that may be the wrong name.)  Just thought I would share!

I'm a huge fan of Syntrax Nectar also.  My favorite is Fuzzy Navel.  My preferred way to have it to mix a scoop (or two if I'm short on protein that day) with either 3 cups of pre-mixed Crystal Lite or 3 cups of water and a single serve pkt of Crystal Lite.  Very yumm-o mixed with strawberry, morning sunrise, or that strawberry-banana crystal lite with the added protein.  I've also mixed the Syntrax Apple Ecstacy with cranberry-apple or cranberry-pomogranite crystal lite.  I liked the Cappuccino pre-op but haven't cared for any of the "milky" flavors since my surgery.  It's all good though, the fruity flavors are so good I never feel like I'm missing anything.  I don't think I'll ever stop doing my daily fruity protein fix!

BTW, Donna, I see you had Dr. Campbell for RNY. Mine is coming up Nov 10 (AND I got a call from the insurance yesterday that I was approved...YAY!...Not that I was worried but it is good to hear it is not 100% certain..)

Anyway, what is the pre-op diet like? Is it all liquid? I asked if I had to go on Optifast when I made my pre-op nut appointment and they told me unless Dr. C specifically said so, I could use Slimfast...but I neglected to ask if it would be liquid only.

Thanks...Suzette

I didn't need to lose any more weight prior to surgery as my BMI was at about 36 or 37.  The only pre-op diet was clear liquids for about 36 hours pre-op.  I don't know if anyone else who went to her has been told anything different from that.  I think Dr Campbell is great and I had a great experience.  Good luck!  Their program is great!
As for the protein drinks, I tried a bunch of different ones pre-op and was very happy with a quite few of them.  Just remember that your taste may change radically post-op.  Mine did.  Some folks like to add AnyWhey, a slightly sweet unflavored protein powder to drinks (although I was never thrilled with it myself).  Nashua Nutrition sells individual servings of may of the kinds they sell and the owner, Eric, is very helpful.  You can look them up online or take a roadtrip to check out their shop in Nashua on 101A behind Gold's Gym.  It's definitely worth the trip if you decide to go there!

Hmmm. Bodybuilding.com has the fruit punch, orange and peach flavors on sale. Which one is the best tasting for pre-op and post-op? Suzette

It's really all personal preference.  Prior to surgery I was drinking only chocolate but after surgery I would gag on chocolate protein shakes (and I haven't had one since.)  I LOVE the fuzzy navel & roadside lemonade.  The crystal sky is good.  I haven't tried fruit punch.  Some sites sell sample packets with just 1 serving of each flavor.  I bought those and then decided which ones I liked.  That way you don't have a 2lb tub of something you don't like.

Donna-I can't tolerate Crystal Light so unfortunately your combos won't work for me.  They do sound good, just wish my stomach could tolerate artificial sweeteners...

Lisa,
Oh bummer about not being able to do Crystal Lite!  That really cuts down on some of your options.  Glad you thought of mixing flavors together with the Syntrax, was a great idea.
