First Appointment

I had my first appointment with Nancy in Portsmouth today.  I called to schedule an appointment with the psychologist, and I'm waiting to hear back from him.  I left messages with the nutritionist and physical therapy.  I'm nervous as hell, but I'm excited at the same time.  I have 11 pounds to lose, which should be pretty easy for me.

Does anyone know how Harvard Pilgrim is to deal with?  I have a BMI of 41, and I am on cholesterol medication.  So far they've been very helpful when I called to inquire about their requirements, and I've heard from other people that they're one of the easiest to deal with.  Does anyone have any suggestions or experiences?

The team in Portsmouth are great! You'll be on your way before you know it, the psychology groups are great and the whole process is so supportive. Best wishes to you!

Welcome, it is nice to have another member on board.  Like everyone else said, this program is the best.  You should have no problem going through and meeting all of the requirements.  Don't forget though that you need to document attendance of at least one general support group meeting.  Portsmouth's is next Monday at 6:30.  hope to see you there.

I'll definitely be at the support group on Monday night.  Thursday morning I have an appointment with the nutritionist and physical therapy.  October 1st with Jeffrey Wagner.  Then it's back with Nancy on October 16th.  I've lost 4 of the 11 pounds I'm supposed to lose.  I'm just hoping Harvard Pilgrim doesn't give me a hard time.  Crossing my fingers.

Good Luck with everything!!  It can be so exciting and scary and everything all balled into one emotion!

To answer your question about Harvard Pilgrim. I have them and got an approval letter on my first try.  I have no other issues except being heavy, I did everything on the list, the doctors sent it in and ta-da I got the approval.  My surgery is in less then a week in Manchester.

So exciting!!  :D

Hi!  I am just starting out as well.  had my 1st appt. with nancy, Dr. Wagner today, and Nut and PT in 2 weeks.  How are you making out? Has it all gone pretty smooth?  I am also very nervous, but very determined!

It's been going pretty well.  I met with Dr. Gens last Friday, and I have to go in for a cat scan on Thursday.  The next thing they'll do is submit for insurance approval, and then then we should schedule a date.  I have two more classes with Dr. Wagner, and I should be done everything I needed to do.

I feel like I've been moving faster than the program will allow me to.  I want the surgery done in December so that it doesn't affect my vacation or sick time in 2010.  I started the process during the informational session the first week in September, so I've worked hard to make sure that I've gotten everything done that I needed to.  It's a great program, and I've learned a lot. I live in Manchester, but I really liked the Portsmouth program better than anything in the Manchester area.
