Well....I am driving...

I have not put too much out on the boards in the last few weeks, but I am feeling better.  My dizziness has probably subsided as much as it is going to for now.  I am driving, but only to work and back.  Still don't feel too comfortable driving any great distance, or on the highway yet.  I seem to have incredible headaches lately, and driving makes me feel a bit nauseous but not driving was driving me crazy.   So, I have not made huge progress, but I am slowly getting there.

Hi Martha,

Good that you are feeling better, but baby steps is not what you need right now.  I think I might go crazy if I was in your shoes.  But there's not much you can do except wait it out.  Thanks for updating.  I hope you have a nice day!

Sorry to hear you are not feeling well but glad you are on your way to recovery! Is this a complication of the lap band or something that just happens with it? just curious of what I may be in for? Thanks

No this is not a complication of the lap band.  This is actually a disease that I have been battling for just about as long as obesity!!  I have meniere's disease, which targets the inner ear.  I have had severe vertigo for several years now.  I had it under control for about 3 years, but in January it started coming back, and the attacks were more often, with little or no warning.  My specialist and I decided that I was a candidate for a treatment where he injects a antibiotic called Gentimiacin, which is toxic to the ear.  The hope is that the fluid will go far enough into the inner ear that it destroys the fluid sacs in the ear, and not further in the ear that it destroys the balance nerve and hearing nerve.  That only happens in 1% of the patients.  Well, I was among the 1%.  I have been having severe dizziness and nausea for a month now.  I had not driven since August 3rd.  I was out of work for 2 weeks.  So that is my story, do not fret.  Other than the weight loss maybe contributing to the disease coming back, we don't really know why it started up again.  The good news is that I have not had any vertigo for a month!!!!!
