I'm having a hard time...

Hi all,

Lately all I crave is sour candy.  Like Sour patch Kids, Sour Skittles, Sour ANYTHING!  I know my stomach can't take the sugar.  My stomach rumbles for hours when I eat sugar.  Of course, I test myself and always pay for eating something sugary.  I can't seem to "get" that I can't have sugar.  Even popscicles.  I wanted something cold.  I can't do SF ones (I can't tolerate artificial sweeteners) so I eat the reg. ones (2 at a time) and my stomach goes into rumbles.

Right now I'm in the, "just don't eat the sugar because you won't feel good" mood.  And my mind is going nuts knowing I just bought a 3lb bag of Skittles at BJ's today (for the kids....ya!)  UGH!

Thanks for letting me get my feelings out here.  No one else really understands.  I've been such a witch lately because I either eat the sugar or don't eat it and I'm mad that I can't have it.  Now I'm rambling.....

Hi Lisa,

I have never liked the sour candies. I can eat sugar which is too bad for me!  But too much does make me dump.  I try to stay away from it for the most part but sweets have always been my downfall.  I do understand your moods cause I get that way too!
Now my daughter loves Skittles and yes we do have them in the big bag in BJ's as I work for BJ's in Community Relations and walk thru that aisle a lot...lol.
I will be in your neck of the woods this Saturday at the BJ's in Hooksett.  I will be helping out my boss and the other Community Relations gal with our Taste of the Town restaurant event.  If you happen to come in, make sure you say Hi to me!
I am a revision from a lapband to a RNY.  I am very pleased with the RNY over the lapband.  I can eat quite normally and have lost over 100 lbs. I could stand to lose more but am happy to be shopping in the misses section of JC Penney.

Hi Valerie,

I was in BJ's yesterday and spent an ungodly amount of money!  BUT, I saved $76.50 in coupons!

Congrats on your revision success!  There is so much more to choose from in the Misses dept!

Oh Lisa I feel your pain. My craving is salt! Pretzels - I love them - can't get enough. And when I do say no I am one cranky lady. I think it's a carb thing for me. But it has to have salt. I don't eat bread at all or potaotes - could care less about them. Crackers and pretzels are my vice. I'm worried about it too because I'm afraid I'm losing control and they are getting the best of me. But atleast we recognize it. I've also noticed that I am eating at night again. I have to get back to basics!!!.  We can do it!!

I'm glad I got that out. It's almost like cleaing your soul.

Hello Rosemary,

Carbs are a very close 2nd on my craving list.  2 days ago I ate too many graham crackers and ended up crashing on my bed.  Then the kids kept bugging me and I got snippy with them.  I eat bread and potatoes occassionally.  The whole thing about losing control worries me too.  I noticed I have been eating at night too and I need to stop it.  It def. gets more difficult as time goes by.

I am proud of myself for not caving and eating Skittles last night (and so is my stomach.)  I feel so much bettter when I stay in control.  It's still a battle every day.  I keep reminding myself I will NOT go back to where I was and I did so much to have this surgery and I will NOT fail!  Period!

I think we all get crazy sometimes, because we always gave into these cravings, and I know that for me, sometimes it is the old pity party...oh I can't have this anymore....feel sorry for me.  Why me?  Why do I have to have the problem?  We know the choices that we have to make, and unfortunately, we are not like many other people who can eat "normally" and not have a weight problem.

You should be proud of yourself for all of the self-control you have.  It is not easy at all, and at times becomes very overwhelming.  Stay with it Lisa.  Someday all of us will win the battle, and not have to think about it anymore.  Until then.....we have each other!!!

Hi Lisa,

Boy you are having a hard time.  with me it is ice cream.  I have substituted with sugar free popsicles and weigh****cher chocolate ice cream bars, but oh I love regular ice cream!!

have you tried stevia based sweetner.  It is put out in the form of Truvia and Purevia.  It is a natural basesd sweetner, no sugar, no calories.  I can send some your way to try.  I was thinking if you got some regular koolaid, and mixed it with the stevia, then froze it, would that satisfy your craving?  I really like the stevia, I use it in everything.  Let me know if you want me to send some out for you to try.

Until then.....hang in there.

Hi Martha,

I have not tried stevia.  I will look for it at Hannaford.  Thanks for offering to send me some.

I can't eat ice cream.  I don't miss it too often.  Again, it makes my stomach rumble.  But, why do I not get angry cause I can't have ice cream but I do get angry because I can't have sour candy?!  I'm sure it's just that I miss sour candy more than ice cream.

 Hey Lisa:

OMG I love or should I say "loved" skittles & sour patch kids! - Sometimes if I get a sweet craving I turn to fruit.  I know it doesn't compare but it does help.  You are doing fantastic and you look wonderful!  Let me know what works..

Hi Cathy,

I have been eating more fruit lately (red grapes and watermelon in particular.)  It's not really satisfying my craving...

I think as long as I can have the willpower to not eat junk, I'll be good.  And my stomach will thank me for it.

Lisa
