Ok so I'm visiting my son in NC. We are at the pool. I head into the water and pass by twin 4 1/2 year old little boys. Ryan and Ethan. Ryan was quite talkative. here's our conversation....
Ryan : What's your name?
Me : Rosemary , what's yours?
Ryan: Ryan Maxwell something
Ryan: You know when people get old they get skin?
Me: Not really
Ryan; You don't look that old but you have skin (as he squishes the skin at my keens)
Me: Well I'm not old but I used to be very heavy and I lost a lot of weight and this is what happened.
Ryan: Hmm you must have lost more weight in this leg because there is more skin here.
Me: Maybe

His mother was mortified. I just chuckled. Out of the mouths of babes.

Another note - I realized that I can not swim. I used to swim just fine. I can't for the life of me figure out what happened. I can't even float!!. Anyone else experience this one?

That is so funny.  Definately put a smile on my face!!

So you can't swim because when you were heavy, the fat in your body kept you afloate.  Now you have muscle and bone, and those are heavier and more dense than fat, and you sink like an anchor!!

IF YOU ARE GOING THROUGH HELL.....KEEP GOING!!

That is so funny!  I think I might have the same problem with swimming, because I float extremely well as a fat person!

Thanks for the laugh Rosemary!

I can totally relate.  Every time I get in the pool, my boys like to "play" with the skin on my arms and legs.  Andrew (who is 8) always tells me I have to keep working out.  Also, just yesterday, Emily (my 14 yo) was tapping my leg and called it "the wave."

I haven't had a problem with swimming.

I am just beginning to feel irritated by the excess skin.  Especially my legs and stomach.

What a cute story, Rosemary.  My nephew once told me my arms looked like rudders.  As soon as he said it, he realized what he said and apologized.  I just laughed.  After all, he was right!
