Advice - just three days out
It is most likely not going to happen, so I've been told. I hated everything for a couple of weeks after surgery and most will tell you that you won't be able to get in the total requirement that early out, but those are goals to shoot for. After a few weeks and some of the internal swellilng goes down, it will get better. You basically have to make yourself drink your fluids and your protein. Keep some with you at all times. When you finally finish one shake, make another one. You won't be able to drink the whole thing in a sitting, you will generally have to sip on it like you do your water and such. Some people drink their protein for an hour or so and then drink water in between. I generally took a swig of protein and then a swig of water throughout the day. You will feel much better faster if you manage to get in as much as you can. Don't beat yourself up if you don't make it for a while. It will happen if you keep trying.
Good luck.

Concentrate on getting in the fluids by having something to drink w/you all the time (except mealtimes), even at night beside your bed. If you do not get the protein in early on, you will be fine -- but you do not want to become dehydrated. If plain water does not appeal, try crystal light or any other sugar free non carbonated beverage (caffeine free also) -- warm herbal tea, broth, etc.
Remember that the fluid in the protein drinks counts also, so if you manage 3 8 oz drinks per day that is 24 oz right there.
Very few people get all their fluid AND protein in every day the first couple weeks. Just don't get dehydrated!!

Thank you both...it i shard to know which to sacrifice. I have been continuing to drin****il it is almost painful, and want to make sure I meet all the goals. I just assumed I couldnt go from stage 1 (6 teaspoons of lquid at meal time) to 64 oz of fluid right away....
It's so weird not wanting to eat at all.

You need to concentrate on your fluids right now and not worry about your protein. You don't want to get dehydrated. My suggestion is to suck on sugar free popsicles all the time. I bought the big box of the tropical flavors (Popsicle brand) and absolutely loved the pineapple ones the best.
These were a life saver for me! And I really liked them too!
Good Luck!
