Fills

How do you know when your fill is not enough? I have been banded for over a year with 25lbs to go. I have not lost in 6 mos!  I get hungry quicker than before. I have not changed my eating habits and get in my protien and water everyday. Is it normal to need a fill after not having one in close to 9 mos???

Sounds to me like you need one, based on what I have heard from lap banders (but I am RNY, so I have no first-hand experience). What do you have to lose (other than weight) by making an appt for a fill and discussing it with Dr. P?

It definately sounds like you need a fill.  I have been banded for almost a year, and have finally realized what it is supposed to be like.  If you are able to eat too much, too quickly, and do not feel the restriction, then you need to contact your surgeon for an appointment.  Don't wait.

It is normal...it is natural for the saline in the band to disipate over time and make you a tad bit looser.  i hadn't had a fill in over 6 months and all of a sudden lsot restriction and that was what had happened to me and that was when I was 1.5 years out...I am great right now at 2 years out

Ooh la la!  You look great!

I have my consult next Tuesday.  Can't wait to see what I'll be "adding."

I'm going back to Dr. Davidson, the surgeon who did my lbl and arms back in March.  This time, it won't be aTufts, though.  I'm going to Newton-Wellesley to meet with him.  I'm planning on BA and inner thighs.  He said it will be outpatient.  Did you end up with the silicone or the saline?  I'm leaning toward the silicone, but everyone I know who's had a BA, got the saline.

i did silicone.   relative of mine has the saline and is having issues after 7 years with them and now they want to replace them with silicone...

you should try the residency program at Mass General!!

Yeah, I know, but I really love Dr. Davidson, and he did my other procedures.  I've kind of got this loyalty thing going . . . and he's actually not any more expensive than the doc I talked to here in Manchester.

Thank you to all who posted an answer. I don't get here like I use to. I am working full time now and I do a lot of data entry in my job so coming home and turning on a PC is the last thing I want to do. But I know my friends at OH will be there when I need there "expertise". Again many thanks and I will be calling Dr P's office this week.
