Weight Loss
Had a fill last thursday and it does no t seem to effect me, I can eat the same way after a fill , I dont feel hungery, I need to call the office and talk to Nancy about this but I wanted to know if anyone else had the same issue? I have hit a plateau and am getting frustrated, I had surgery on May 5th and and I have lost about 50 pounds but I seem to have stayed the same the last 3 weeks, I feel likle i Just can not get over this hurdle...Hlep any ideas
I am an RNY person, so I am not sure about lap banders, but everyone seems to have stalls in their weight loss in the 1 - 2 month time frame. Your body has a lot of adjusting to do.
Many people have lots of fills to get their band just right, according to what I hear at the support groups. Hang in there, if you persevere you will be where you need to...and focus on those 50 lb in 2 months. I am 6 months out and have lost 60 lb, so you are way ahead of what I did!!
Best wishes
Mary
It does take a while to get the band just right. I have had four fills, and finally feel like this last one has made a big difference. My others have lasted about 2 to 3 weeks, and then it is back to "normal". You may need one, two, or even three more until you feel that it is working properly.
I have been on a plateau for many months now, but have not significantly gained. If this was like before, without my tool, I would have gained back probably most that I had lost. Also, 50 pounds since May. You need to congratulate yourself. That is amazing.
Until you get your next fill, just follow the guidelines. Eat slowly, cut your food into small pieces, eat until satisfied, and watch the portions. This is only a minor bump in the road, not a road block. You will get past this.
Yesterday I had a cup of coffee (Black) and a South beach protein bar for Breakfast, lunch I had a smart one and diiner the potaotes and chicken, I did have about 3-4 cups of air popped pop corn for a light snack, I just feel hungery. I dont feel the band is restricking me enough, I have to force myself to make sure I dont over eat, i could have sat and had a ton of food and not felt resiticed but I had to control myself, I think that is the hardest part is the mental part of not eating, gettting used to doing somehting other than eating when I watch TV.......I am just having a struggle, I also have people in my life who keep asking me how much weight have you lost......and a mother who will come up to me and ask so will you stomache go down at some point comes up and grbs my flab....very annoying, it aslo ticks my husband off whens he does it so I have to try and play peacemaker........
The mental hunger is difficult to overcome. It takes time, although it does sound like you have done a terrific job so far. Make sure you are getting enough protein. It sounds to me like you are not. Every meal should be protein based. Cheese, beef jerky, greek yogurt, almonds, and other high protein items should be your snacks. You will find if you increase the protein, you will be less hungry. Make sure you eat the chicken before you eat the potatoes. I don't think you are getting enough food. Try using the online program "The Daily Plate". That will log your protein, carbs, sugars, calories and exercise for each day. You should be getting in at least 60 grams of protein per day. Maybe instead of watching tv, you can go for a walk, or go and walk the mall or something like that. You are like me, and need to keep your hands busy. I love the Wii Fit program. Try that. There are so many ways you can fill the time that used to be filled with food. I also know that this weather is not helping, but try and do as much as possible.
