Surprising news about my eyesight

I went to the eye doctor Monday night and I had been having a real problem seeing with my contacts, so I just haven't worn them. Well I have been nearsighted and farsighted for years now.  She tested my eyes and said she was not surprised that I was having a problem, that my prescription has really changed.  I asked her how bad now, and she said for the better with the nearsighted sight.  It has improved remarkably, and she is attributing it to my weight loss.  She said that weight loss and near sightedness are often linked, because of blood sugar factors and others.  So although I am still having to have contacts and glasses for reading and just plain seeing, it is getting better.  Now if I could just not be so farsighted!!!!

That's great!  I had no idea that eye sight improves after losing weight.

That's good news Martha. I did not know that. I went to the eye doctor recently and my eyes hadn't changed - which was a good thing since they always got worse. I just picked out some new glasses though because the old ones are too big. :) I can't wait to get them.

Wow, that's great! I recently was told my eye had improved from astigmatism to more normal.
I will get a less restrictive contact lense (costs less too) as a result. Never thought about the weight, but it makes sense as the diabetes is literally gone!

I had the same issue.  I thought my eyes were getting worse because my glasses didn't seem to correct anymore.  I went to the eye doctor with the idea that I would need a stronger prescription.  It was just the opposite.  My eyes had improved due to the diabetes going away to the point where I did need new glasses, but with a much less powerful prescription.  It was amazing.  The stigmatism in my right eye literally disappeared.
