Breakfast Ideas

I am getting a bit bored of the cottage cheese breakfast. Sometimes I have eggs but that is not really something I can do when I go to work so early. Oatmeal is so high in carbs that I find myself having a tough day with food when I start my day off so high in carbs.

What do other people eat? Any suggestions?

Hello,

I know this is not the right thing to do, but I usually only have a protein drink in the morning and I don't eat lunch until at least 1:00 (I'm just not hungry most days.)  I drink the protein drink while working out.

Some other suggestions would be to boil eggs and bring them to work.  I usually just eat the hard boiled egg white.  There are some high protein cereals out there too.  Nashua Nutrition sells some.  There are also some high protein, low sugar protein bars too.  My favorite is the Oh Yeah wafter bars.

Hope this helps!

I absolutely love the greek yogurt for breakfast. I put dried cherries or cranraisins, and some almonds (sliced) in mine.  If you get the plain, you can put some splenda and a little bit of vanilla extract in it.  YUMMY.  It is also very high in protein.

Well hubby can't have them yet, but this is what I did for him and the kids Pre-op. It  takes a little time on the weekend or a week nite.

I would take 12 eggs
1/2 - 3/4 c shredded fat free chedar cheese
then either some ham or turkey bacon

scramble the eggs and mix in cheese and meat
then grease with pam a muffin tin
bake at 350 for about 10 minutes

You can freeze theese and take out 1 or 2 as needed zap in the micro for 1-2 minutes and good to go.
If you can tolerate veggies you can add what you like.
My son loves his with mushrooms and asparagus (EWWW) lol but I make  a batch for him and it  is an easy breakfast for them.

Oatmeal is great for you to have in the morning. It is good carbs, and the fiber in it will keep you full longer too. Add some diced walnuts and some blueberries and you have a great, good for you day starter.
I have been trying cottage cheese lately and at Shaw's I get a low fat pineapple & cherries one that I put on a slice of toast with cinnamon. I get Esekiel bread which is a sprout bread, toasts great and low in carbs.
Omelettes are great with some veggies & sliced ham and cheese.
I too love greek yogurt. I get mine at Trader Joe's it has 20 grams of protein for 1 cup, I add SF syrups and fruit with cinnamon and it makes a great breakfast.

The Quaker instant oatmeal (Weight Control) is my most frequent breakfast.  I add a teaspoon of golden raisins, a tablespoon of instant milk powder, some Benefiber, and 3 Splenda packets.

Alternate breakfast is the 60 cal 4 oz yogurt.

I always do the protein shake for breakfast, but have a hard boiled egg mixed with cottage cheese and just a dab of ketchup for lunch; it's really good and filling. If I get hungry between my 8:00 breakast and 12:30 lunch, I'll have half a banana or a 1/2 cup of applesauce (no sugar added).

And don't forget those Kashi protein bars...

I'm tight in the mornings and of course mornings are a rush of activity getting everyone ready to leave so stress and already tight means it's hard for me to eat in the morning.  I've taken to having a protein shake in the morning.  I make it at home and bring it to work with me and have it around 8am.  It usually holds me til lunch at 1230.
