Not losing enough

I know my downfall is probably impatience, but I can't help it. I'm getting wicked frustrated. I had the band over 2 months ago (like that's a really long time right?), and the weight loss is so much slower than before I had the surgery. I lost 45 pounds between Nov and March pre-op following this great food plan, working out at the gym and now I'm following the food plan, working out 5 times plus per week, and not losing like I want to be.
I lost 10 quick after surgery during the 2 week liquid/mushie stage then another 10 during the first 5 or 6 weeks post-op, but since then...the past 5 weeks...3 or 4 pounds. Am I unreasonable to think I should have lost more than that? I had my first fill 4/30 and have only lost 2 pounds since.  And I'm hungry. I'm counting calories on the Daily Plate and never over 1000 now.
Okay I appreciate you letting me vent here.
I'm a freak about the scale. Twice a day at least, sometimes 3 times.
The doc scale said 3 pounds higher than my scale when I went (afternoon with all my clothes on). My scale now says 6 pounds lighter than the docs scale in the afternoon with my cloths on. It says lower than that in the am naked. (sorry don't get a visual...not yet, I'm still fat).
I'm doing this whole head trip about weighing am or pm and with or without cloths trying to justify that maybe I've lost more or maybe I've gained more...etc. blah, blah, blah...I'm driving myself nuts.    Again thanks for letting me vent...
I still feel so much better than before...down from a size 30 to a size 22/24, but that's still big.

Diane -

I don't know about the band procedure and losing weight.  But what I do know is you need to hide your scale.  I was like you, weighing myself day and night, at home, at the gym and at the doctors.  Every scale is different.  You are going to weigh less in the am than at night.  I weigh myself ONCE A WEEK on a good scale at the gym. Last week I lost 6 pounds.  It is so much better on your mind if you do not weigh as offen.  Trust me, I have been there.   You are doing well - down from a size 30 to 22/24!  That is wonderful.  Good work!  Mary

Thank you Mary! I know you are probably right about the scale, I'm honestly not sure I can stop myself. It's like my control right now. I'm terrified if I let that go when I do weigh in it'll be a gain.

Diane, first here is a hug  for just  being you.  I agree you need to hide that scale if you can't wait a week then just do twice a week for now.  You are doing so well, don't drive yourself nuts about it. You are doing everything right and the weight will come off. You are building muscle and making yourself healthier everytime you go to the gym. Keep up the great work  you are an inspiration to many.  Take a deep breath and enjoy today.

Keep it up

As someone who formerly had the lapband for two years, your weight loss is right on target.  The lapband weight loss is MUCH slower than the gastric bypass.  Average for the majority of people is 1/2 to 1 lb. per week.
Try not to get on the scale every day.  I would suggest just a once a week weigh in otherwise you'll drive yourself crazy.

As others have said, you are doing great and right on track (as much as I know about the band). I also drive myself crazy with the scale, but that has gotten better lately -- some days I actually FORGET to weigh myself!! I would be better off weighing weekly, but do it at least several times a week (and often compare the scale at home to the one at the gym!).

BTW you cannot always trust scales. My mother had a dr appt, and I stepped on their scale. I was shocked, then realized the scale was WAY out of balance -- like 10 lb. (it is the older balance beam type scale with the weight you slide across -- it did not balance when empty until the slider was at the 10 lb mark!) They need to either fix it or get rid of it; they also have a bigger digital they use most of the time. Even doctor's office scales where they should know better can be way out of whack.

Diane, since out time for the lap band is the same I know what you are going through. I have yet to have a fill and I can tell you  it is really much harder now after 2 1/2 months. I had gained 6 pounds back and then last week I lost three. I was so happy to just get those three pound back off.

I have to be so much more conscientious of what I eat and try not to have the items that got me heavy in the first place. I cannot go back to the weight gain as I got rid of my size 24-22 jeans.

I asked my dietitian how many times could I weigh myself in a week. I thought if I weighed myself every day I would know that I needed to cut back. However she recommended only weighing  myself 2x a week, not more than that. So since I weigh myself on Fridays normally I will try to weigh myself like Tues as that is 4 days from Friday.

It is okay to get frustrated as this is new to the way we were doing things before, However I am here for you if you need to vent.

Hi Diane,

Sometimes impatience is not a bad thing, but don't make yourself crazy over it.  You are doing several things right, logging your food, exercise, eating healthy....but girl, you have to loose the scale.  It will be your downfall.  I have not gotten on the scale since my fill.  It has been killing me (and not having one around certainly helps), but to me, getting on the scale everyday is very bad for me.  You are right on track.  You need to be aware that your body has just lost a lot of weight, and needs to adjust.  I hit the 60 pound mark, and now can't seem to get below it.  I have been here for months.  So wean yourself off of the scale.  Have you husband hide it, and only give it to you once a day, then 5 days a week, then 3 days, then 1 day a week.

And you should be very proud of yourself for the weight loss you have had.  There are a lot of people out there who wish they were as strong as you.  You made the best decision for you, now just let it work.
IF YOU ARE GOING THROUGH HELL.....KEEP GOING!!
