I feel like there's something going on with my body

Good morning all!

I'm not sure what is happening, but I "think" my body is going though some weird stuff lately.  Lately when I work out, my heart rate is not as high as it use to be.  I kept telling myself that it's because we have had sub instructors at Jazzercise and they are not pushing me as hard as my regular one.  Normally I would burn 730-800 calories per 1 hour, and lately I've been burning approx. 680-720.  Hmmm.  My calories burned with my PT is about the same although my HR is also down.  I'm pretty sure that's a good thing especially since I have always had a very high HR.

Last week I gained a half a pound for no apparant reason.  But I chalked it up to my calories burned and/or maybe having a few extra calories on Mother's Day.  No biggie.  I weighed in today and lost 4 lbs!  I did much better eating and I'm getting in more protein drinks.  So, I'm thinking my body is readjusting (maybe my metabolism is getting better?)  IDK.  I guess I'm just babbling here, but just want everyone to know weird things may happen to your body through this process.

I am so thankful for this tool I have!  I live a whole different life now that I have it.  I feel healthy and strong.  There are still days I struggle, but in the end, I would do it all over again.

You all have a fantastic day!  I hope my post makes sense.....

Hi Lisa,
Your post does make sense.  I think what's happening is that you're just so much more fit now than before.  Your body has become more efficient, so it needs to be pushed harder to burn the same amount of calories that you were burning before.  Plus, because you weigh less now than you did, you are not expending as many calories to do the same task.   What an accomplishment for you!

Thank you Kathy!

I was just thinking that I use to burn more cals because my HR got so high.  Now that it's lower (and probably more where it should be) I'm burning less cals, but I think more effective cals.  My body doesn't have to work so hard and my HR stays in a target zone as opposed to in the high 190's or low 200's (yes, it gets THAT high!)

Lisa  <-------Just finished a 30min workout w/my PT.  406 cals burned and avg. HR 184.  HR got as high as 204.  BUT, it was a HARD workout.  He pushed me before my vacation.  And I loved every minute of it....

That is so awesome Lisa.  Yes, your body has more lean mass than fat mass, and lean mass burns calories quicker.  Like Kathy said, you also don't have to work as hard as before to acheive the same goals.  So good for you, and keep up the good work.

Lisa good for you! You are working hard!
Do you or did you have High Blood Pressure?
Your heart rate sounds really high...?
My doc told me to stay between 120 and 140. I have hbp, and when it's high my heart rate goes up real quick during a workout.

Hi Diane.  No HBP ever!  Just a VERY high heart rate.....always.  Even my personal trainer is amazed by it.
