Band help
Hi fellow banders...
I was banded on 5/5, I had some issues and some fluid has to be removed from the band after surgery. I noticed yesterday and today that I am starting to get hungry(1st time since surgery i want to eat) last night I had some mashed potatoes and I did not feel full, it is strange I did not get uncomfortable or anything. I know i did not eat a ton but it was about a 1/2 cup. I was thinking that I should have felt more full, if that makes any sense. I am just afraid that I am able to get to much in.
The strange thing is that a few hours later I was having some water , took a few sips and my stomach hurt and it was uncomfortable...it is strange.
Also does any one know if coughing can cause the band to slip, I have had a terrible cough since surgery......just curious.
Thanks,

Hi Haileysmom,
First, you are doing fine. You should be on stage 3 foods? You will not get the uncomfortable feeling unless you eat too much, too fast. Your hunger may come from not having enough protein. Remember you should be having protein with every meal, and average between 60 and 90 grams per day.
Believe me, if you eat too much, you will know. First you will feel full, and second, you may end up getting sick. I don't know too many of us that wish for the latter, so we usually do not pu****
If you are having problems finding protein based foods, please let me know and I can give you some ideas.
Also coughing cannot cause the band to slip. I have had dogs jump off of my abdomen, coughing fits, done ab exercises, and many other things. You might want to get that cough looked at though!
The reason why you had discomfort last night, was because whatever was in your pouch had not made it into your larger stomach. Remember in the beginning to sip very slowly.
