got moving!
I have been using the excuse of being "too busy", having "too much going on" blah blah blah for not exercising. BUT...last night i walked (a nice brisk walk) for 45 minutes...I got in 3.4 miles. It was so nice out, and i felt great. I have been struggling with anxiety alot lately...i feel crazy sometimes! lol But that walk just felt so great...I vowed to try and get one in at least 3 days a week. I slept better, i felt better!
Also i haven't weighed myself in weeks because i was on a BIG stall...but finally it broke. I weighed 185 this morning. That is my high school weight! Wow...thats something! When I think about my stats i am so happy. I am just shy of 8 months out....my highest weight was 310...though that was even before i started pre-op stuff...but still...that is 125lbs down!
OK...enough of my excitement! Reading everyones posts always keeps me motivated...so i wanted to share my joy!

You'll start your new life on 6/1. Congrats.
When you get back home, the doc will put you on a walking schedule. Double it. That will improve your state of mind, get the weight to drop off even faster, and start good exercise habits. Although starting to slow a bit now, the first 4 weeks after surgery I averaged 10 pounds lost per week. I attribute a good part of that to the exercise and increase in metabolism.
Good luck!!

Starting an exercise routine deserves applause: The key now is sticking to your plan of 3x/week. It's tough, and if you miss a week, don't give in to stopping. Get right back into your routine. I only say this because I was an exercising machine until I had my plastics 6 weeks ago. Now I'm struggling to get back into my routine. I did walk today and actually completely pooped out my beagle, which is a shock. I think it was the heat. But I used to do something at least 6x/week, and now it seems like I can't even get my exercise in 3x in one week. I start back to work on Monday, so I'm hoping that will help. Although you'd think that I should be getting more exercise in because I'm home and have the time, but I actually seem to find more things to do at home that stop me from getting out. Aaaaargh!
I also want to congratulate you on your weight loss -- 125 pounds is fantastic!!!!!! Keep up the great work!

Kathy,
Thanks! I hope i can keep it up! I am a woman of MANY excuses...you should hear them, they are great!
I was wondering...how are you feeling after your plastics? I have heard that it is MUCH more to handle post op than the RNY. Glad to hear you are ready to get back to work...the exercise will come in time. Your so right about being busy at home though, i know that is one of my prime excuses...there is ALWAYS something to do! I didn't get any exercise in yesterday...I work a double shift every tuesday, but i intend to do a nice brisk walk tonight. I will, I will, I will...gotta talk myself into it!

I don't know if it's because I was exercising regularly and in really good shape before my plastics or what, but the pain was a lot less for me than the bypass was. I had heard the same thing -- that the plastics were more painful, but that wasn't the case for me. I'm feeling great and will be going back to work on Monday. I am so happy that I did this for myself. Girls next ...
