Totally cool Mother's Day race I just found out about
I JUST found out about a totally fabulous Mother's Day road race. There is one in Durham, NH and many other small ones around but I just learned about the Portland Sea Dogs Mother's Day 5K! It's been around for ages, I just didn't know about it.
The super cool part is there is a completely FREE fun run for the kids at 8:30am on Mother's Day AND they get a T-shirt (FREE) and finisher's medal (FREE).
At 9:15am is the run for men and women both, anyone can do it. It's not just mother's or anything. The run is led by the Seadogs mascot and his mom. All females finishers get a flower at the finish line. Cool. You get to finish IN the Seadogs Stadium and run across the home plate area. Way cool! They stream the finish line to the big screen in the stadium. Super cool! And everyone who runs get a ticket for any home game general admission free. Go Seadogs!
It costs $18 and you probably won't get a shirt. They have snazzy tehnical T-shirts but only to the first 1,000 to sign up. As last year 2,200 ran it and it's in only two weeks, my guess is the shirts are gone. Sorry, I'd have given you all a heads up earlier but I only just found out about this one.
