11 days out. Remarkable results.
I feel terrific. No complications. No dumping, foaming, or sliming yet. I'm walking 25 min 3X day and the dog is getting into terrific shape. All ports are healing well. (Still hurts a little to do a sit up).
Met with the nut yesterday. She graduated me to "phase 3" of the diet (puree foods). I immediately had scrambled eggs for dinner. What a treat! She also went through the myriad of vitamin supplement choices. I chose the Optisource vitamin. It's available thru Walgreens and is a special vitamin for "Post Bariatric Surgery". $27 for 120 which is a month's supply. All-in-one chewable that tastes like a fruity Tums. Take 1 at each meal and one before bed. No other vitamins or supplements are needed. I like the simplicity of that especially once back at work.
Any good recipes out there for the puree stage?

Anne, Good luck on your surgery this week. If you're like me, you'll wake up not hungry with a feeling of a gas bubble under your diaphram. They'll have you up and walking once you get to your room and that will relieve the gas bubble.
If you're not squeemish, go onto YouTube and search for bariatric surgery and you can watch exactly what is about to happen. I found it fascinating. You'll find that what causes that bubble is a procedure done at the end of the surgery. Air s pumped into your stomach and intestines and then saline solution is squirted over the areas just created. It allows the surgeon to check for leaks. It is similar to how we used to check for leaks in a bicycle tire when we were kids.
Everyone is different, so use your pain meds as you need them. I found no need by early in day 2. That also made me more eager to go walking. The nurses scolded me for not waiting for them. I just walked down the hall and waved to the nurses station. They would then come running.
I got a great suggestion to bring chapstick and mouthwash. The hospital did supply mouthwash but no chapstick. I was glad I had it 'cause the oxygen really dries out your mouth and lips. I was told to bring my CPAP machine but not allowed to use it 'til day 3 (The first night back home). Bring clothes that will be easy to put on as you dress to go home. Pullovers will be tough for a few days. As you leave the hospital, you'll be wearing anti-embolism stockings and will need to wear them for 2-4 weeks. Try to get a couple extra pair from the nurses before you leave because they're very expensive ($29 a pair at CVS).
Best of luck and let us know how it all went when you get home.

Congrats and thats great that you are doing so well.
I hope you aren't doing sit ups yet. My surgeon said no sit ups for 6 weeks. Everything is still healing and you don't want to get a hernia or have a staple shift inside till you are healed.
Take it easy these first few weeks...
have a great weekend and hope to see you at the next meeting...Laurie
