Hi Everyone:  Has anyone heard anything on this bill lately?  I was wondering if it had passed, died or is there still hope?

I believe it passed without the Governor's signature.

The general meeting is tonight right?  Are you going?  If it is, and you are going, can you ask about it?  I can't go, have to get my taxes done (ugh) and I have a really good friend who is in serious difficulty.  She's losing the same 30 pounds like the rest of us for a long time, but she's been gaining a lot.  Her insurance excluded WLS before, but if this law passed, she'd be covered.

Yup, I am going tonight.  I will ask Nancy.  I am pretty sure it went through though.  Let me check something else.

Hi All,

The mandate bill did pass last year. While the Governor didn't sign it, he didn't veto it either, meaning it became a law.  Nancy and the individual insurance companies should have more info about what this means for individuals who could be candidates for the surgery.

Approved: Enacted in accordance With Article 44, Part II of New Hampshire Constitution, without signature of governor, July 16, 2008.

If she has insurance from a federal employer or an employer based outside NH, it may not apply to her.... they are unfortunatlely exceptions. Hope it works out for her. I have a friend in a similar situation, and I have been trying to at least get her to the info session. One baby step at a time!
