My Grandson's first moose
My family and I went snowmobiling in Colebrook/Pittsburg this last weekend. Last ride of the season for the most part. We went out late Saturday, so decided to get up early, and head out Sunday to be the first on the trails. We got to less than a mile from a friend's camp where my husband and I saw the large bull moose a couple of weeks ago. My grandson was riding with my husband. They came around the corner, and there was a young moose just sitting in the trail sunnying herself. After a few minutes she slowly got up, shook herself off, and then posed for several minutes. For Cameron's first moose, she was perfect. I have posted pictures on both my facebook page, and here. Check it out. He even waved bye-bye to moosey.
I must admit that I'm a little jealous -- I'm 52 years old, and I've never seen a moose (except for a small one on the side of the road licking the salt -- it was so small that my mom said it was a big dog, but I know in my heart of hearts that it was a moose!). I've even spent the better part of a week at Yellowstone. (I did see plenty of buffalo there, though.) Twice, a moose walked right down the middle of my street, in the middle of Manchester, but I wasn't home to see it. I spend my summers on a lake, and went to Pittsburg for a weekend once. Still no moose, and I've always wanted to see one!
"I am not the skin I'm in, but the soul within."
So, we will just have to take you on a trip to Pittsburg in June or July, go up moose alley until we see one!! Last June we saw 14 different moose. Then in September we saw none. They love the snowmobile trails because they hold their weight, and they can move around easier. Cam was so funny. That is all he talked about for the rest of the day. Oh that, and hitting daddy and papi with snowballs!
Whew...I read your title and thought your grandson was hunting moose....good thing I'm getting new glasses....lol
When my DH and I were dating, we heard on his scanner that a moose was loose in our city, yes we lived in Lowell Ma and we never saw forest animal's in our area, so we followed the moose...his Dad was not happy when he saw the big dent that moose put in his car, they had a vet shot it with a medicated dart so they could bring him back to a better inviroment....your little good news story brought back that memory and your pictures were great....have a good night...Laurie
