Will you not loose weight if you dont have enough protein?

I think you may still lose weight, but the inside and outside of your body will pay for not having enough protein.  Your hair may fall out.  Your nails will be brittle.  You may feel tired.  That is just a few "bad" things that may happen.  Protein is VERY important for WL people.

Exactly what Lisa said.  My nails were beautiful, until I did not get enough protein in for a month or so.  Now they are splitting, break easily and are not growing.  My hair is also thinning a little, and I don't have that much to thin!!

You must have 60 grams of protein every day.  It may inhibit your success at losing weight also.  Protein stays with you longer, gives you energy and stamina to get through the day.

The big thing is holding onto the muscle you have.  If you consume enough protein, when you burn fat, mostly you just burn fat.  If you are protein deficient, your body will still burn fat as long as your calorie count is less than the energy used.  But, your body will rob itself of the protein it needs.  That means it goes after your muscles.  So, get your protein in!

Here's a little trick too... If your weight loss starts to slow down, kick up the protein and the water.  You will more times than not kick your stall.  Im a big fan of shakes even at a year out.
my goal is 1g of protein per body weight.  (Im in muslcle build mode right now).

Protein is your friend!

 K8,
On average how many calories do you eat a day?

My weight loss has slowed which I knew it would but I'm losing about 1 pound a week - 10 days. I'm eating about 800 - 900 calories a day and about 90 g of protein. I average 300 minutes of exercise a week - cardio and weights.
Any suggestions?

Man, I really HATE to tell you this, but....

It sounds great.  Your calorie consumption sounds pretty good for where you are, your protein is EXCELLENT and your are doing cardio and muscle building.  Um, so your sound totally and completely on track.

Perhaps it's a temporary slow down, while you body "catches it's breath" before taking off again.  Perhaps it's a boring workout routine and you need to change it up.  Perhaps it's the enevitable slow down with being further out.  I dunno.  But stick with it cause you are doing everything right.

The only things I can suggest is that getting enough sleep helps alot and drinking enough water helps alot.  I'm guessing as you are responsible enough to chart your foods and calorie intake and watch your protein as well as you do, you are probably already doing both of those already.

Good luck.  Let us know how it's going.

My protein goals are 1g of protein per body weight.. thats cus im in muscle building mode.  Which means i eat more calories to get them in.
I work out everyday and burn around 700 calories.  So my daily calorie intake is around 1500 calories.  (Netting 800).  My weight is stable due to the muslce build.
