Trying not to be bummed...
I've been working so hard and waiting for a surgery date. Had delays in Mammograms and appts., and just when I thought I'd get on the schedule, now my doc (can't really blame her), is going on vacation and they did not even mail in my insurance letter until today! That means I'll be a March surgery at the earliest! I've lost 39 pounds and I'm trying to convince myself this will just give me more time to lose and get in shape, but I started this in October and my head is telling me I might as well eat now... bad voice!! I'm jonsing for carbs wicked!
Congratulations on the 39Lb loss and getting to were you are! I am just starting this process and I see all the stuff we have to do beforehand and it feels like it will never get here. It must be some relief that you have gotten all the hoops jumped through. To have to wait MORE must seem unbearable, but it will go by fast and before you know it you will be on the other side of this. You don't want to have come all this way and jeopardize it now, cause that will just put you back even more. You can do it, you have had enough strength and courage to get you here now, don't falter.
THIS is just a temporary situation.

This too shall pass. . .
You have worked too hard to jeopardize your March surgery. If you eat and gain, then you will have to start over again to try and lose the weight. How many times have you done that in your life????? This is the beginning of your NEW life. You can fight off those carbs!
And here's more food for thought (no pun intended): After you have had your surgery and you get your appetite back, which will happen, you will still have to fight off the carb demons, so you might as well learn to battle them now. They never really go away.
Just worry about getting through today. Good luck!

Diane,
I started the process in May of last year and did not have the operation until October. The operation was postpone twice and I know how difficult it is to wait. With the help of my support system (wife, family and groups) I was able to keep the weight off. Just remember why you decided to get the operation in the first place and keep on going. You have done a wonderful job losing 39 pounds and that will just make it easier later on. Keep your spirits up.

Don't be too bummed. Remember...everything happens for a reason. There is a reason for this, and you may never know it. Keep losing the weight, it is less you have to lose after surgery. It is hard, I know, but the end result is so worth the wait.
Like Kathy said, this is a great time to test newly found skills with eating, exercise, and control.
It will all work out, just keep the faith.

These are the times when you have to take the lessons learned in Jeff's class and work through the cravings. I know it is a bummer to wait, but it really isn't that much longer.....I went to the first seminar in Nov 07 and didn't have surgery until July 08, so I know the wait can be agonizing. But the good thing was it gave me time to work on better habits, going to the gym, eating better etc. and I ended up losing 54lbs before surgery. Use this time to your advantage, I know you can.....

Hang tough! You've come to far to let the delay get to you, even though I totally understand tyour disappointment. The program I went through moves very slowly, started the process in May '08 and had surgery in Jan '09. The wait is worth it! It wasn't an issue for me, but I was told my surgeon has actually cancelled surgeries, on the day they are to be done, if the patient shows up for the procedure and has gained.

It really stinks that you have to wait so long, but it would stink more if your surgery got delayed even longer because you gained. Hang in there and like you've already been told, use what you learned in Jeff's classes to keep you on track. It works! I'm so glad you logged on here instead of logging into a bag of Oreos. Hang in there, your day will come and we will all be there to cheer for you when it does!

Hold on Diane. The time will fly by.
You're in good company. I started the process last May. I had my surgical consult on 1/12 and have a surgery date of 3/31. I think the popularity of this surgery is on the rise and is putting pressure on the medical community to keep up with the demand. More doctors and more programs are needed, I guess.
Hang in there.
