Pilates
My friend gave me a 12 day guest pass to the YMCA. I'm a member of Planet Fitness, but they don't offer any type of fitness classes there, so I thought I'd take some classes at the Y with my pass. I went to a pilates class today. It's the first time I've ever done anything like that. I really liked it. The only tough part was that I couldn't do anything that involved rolling on my rear end because my tailbone hurt so much! The class was at noon. I felt good afterward, but now that it's getting to be hours later, wow am I stiffening up! Guess it kicked my butt!

I would love to try Pilates...never have, but i am trying to get more exercise in...i'm really bad about it. I have such a busy schedule! I am going to the Y today actually. I've had a membership but not really used it. I go to the one in Nashua. I am not sure they have Pilates there. My boyfriend is on an exercise kick...ya know since for the first time I weigh less than him! :) Which Y have you been going to? I know that i would see such improved results if i got more exercise in...and now that i'm 5 months out...its going to slow down, so i have to get my butt moving!
I go to the Y in Manchester on Mechanic Street. It's right across the street from where I work, and quite a few of my co-workers go there. I think I'm going to take in the pilates class again on Monday.
They also have pilates and other exercise programs on On Demand, if you subscribe to Comcast. You might want to check those out too.
You are so right about the exercise. It will make a difference. And once you start and get yourself into a routine, it won't be bad - really! You've got to take full advantage of your honeymoon period. Good luck.
BTW, I think that's funny about your boyfriend being on an exercise kick now that you've lost the weight!

I haven't checked out the Comcast ones...i'm gonna do that though. Yes it is funny. Mind you he only has about 30lbs to lose...but he is heavier than he's been in the 7 years we've been together. We've decided to get married next year so he said he can't be fat next to be being thin! LOL Well...whatever motivates him is good!
Pilates is the mother of all hard exercise! I'm in physical therapy right now, and a lot of what they're having me do is Pilates exercises. But, it's amazing that I've only been to PT four times and I can already see a difference.
Hard, but worth it.

One night not long after my surgery, I decided to try beginning Yoga on Comcast. Thank goodness I was alone in my family room because all I did was laugh at myself! I couldn't do any of the poses, and I was happy to know that no one was around because I must have looked absolutely ridiculous! I have to admit that I haven't done any of the On Demand exercise programs since, but I think I will try a Pilates one again. At least I have a carpet in my family room. At the Y, it just really really hurts my tailbone because the floor is so hard.
