Update on Really out of it
I just got back from seeing Nancy and Dr. Gens. I talked to him about my dizziness and shakes, and he ordered blood work to look at my potassium level. I am on hydroclorothiazide for my menierre's, and a large dose, so he is not sure if my potassium is low. Nancy also took my blood pressure and told me that was a little low also....So I have to get the blood pressure monitor out of my truck (bought it 2 days ago) and take my blood pressure on a daily basis, and then call my pcp if it is progressively low. They also agreed with upping the carbs, which I have been doing.
So I got my fill, and blood work done, and back to work. I should know more soon, but I have been feeling a bit better this last week with the increase in carbs. HUM...maybe I am afraid to eat them because I was the Carb Queen

Hi Martha,
Are you on the same dose of hydrochlorothiazide that you were on pre-surgery? It never occurred to me when I read your original post that it may be your meds, but that's what happened to me. Although for me, it was within a couple of weeks of the surgery. I got taken off all but one and never looked back. Hopefully, that's all it is, and you'll be feeling energetic in no time.

Hi Kathy,
I am on the same dose of the hydroclorothiazide as I was pre-surgery, but I doubt I will be able to come off of that at this time. I started having vertigo again, after 3 years of nothing It is for fluid retention (diaretic) and not blood pressure related.
But Dr. Gens does believe that my blood pressure medication may be an issue. They have already cut it in half, so he thinks I can go off of it. That is why I need to check my blood pressure. That would be so cool if I could completely go off of that. I have been on it forever!!

This is a first for me, I'm going to stop lurking.
I too have menierre's but I don't take any medication. I have had dizzy spells since the surgery. When I told Nancy and Dr. Gens about being dizzy, the looked at me like I was crazy. I have been living with it. But it's much worse since the surgery. I get up most mornings and have to grab a wall on the way to the bathroom or feel like I'm going to pass out. I was going to get up an appointment with my ENT. Keep us updated on your progress.

Hi Lisa,
You need to be very careful with Menierre's. when I have vertigo, I cannot move my head, eyes, body without vomiting. I have so far been able to control any vomiting with dramamine. I take the hydroclothiazide and lorazepam for my menierre's. The biggest contributor to menierre's symptoms is sodium. I cannot consume any more that 1000 mg. per day. when you add up what is in just regular food, it is very hard to do that.
Check you sodium, and that may help you with the vertigo.
