I had my surgical consult with Dr Campbell on 1/12 and CIGNA approved the surgery a couple of days later!  I was shocked having heard how tough CIGNA can be on approvals.  My surgery date is 3/31/09 at CMC.  It will be RNY.

That is so awesome.  I know someone who is going through Cigna for Lap Band, and they are making her go through 6 months of physician documented weight loss, even though she did weigh****chers for over a year, and lost a bunch of weight.  I am glad you had better lucky.

Congratulations!  In advance, welcome to the family.  If there's anything we can do to help smooth the way for you, speak up.  It's normal to get a little anxious as the day approaches, so come here for some support.

I am happy for you. I had Cigna also and had to do a 6 month medically supervised diet with my Dr. They were a pain and I think just do the diet thing to hope you will drop out. I never did. It was well worth the wait. I wish you the best of luck and keep us all posted as we are all here for you.

Congrats Soxfan - that's a huge relief to have the $$ end of things settled.  Are you happy about having the RNY?  T

Thanks for all your support.  And yes, I had to go through a six month Dr supervised program, too.  It included a six week course, meeting with those who had the surgery, monthly weigh ins, nutritional counseling, and 2 appointments with a shrink.  But, I must say that it was worth the effort and very educational.  The peole involved at CMC are all very supportive.

I have diabetes and my goal is to kill the diabetes before it kills me.  Since I've had it less than 10 years, the doc says I have a very good chance of having the whole thing go into remission post surgery.  Now that's exciting!  The weight loss will be an added bonus.
