Hello All
Hey Karen and Heidi,
Good to see you guys are well. Heidi, the sleep apnea test is not necessarily a bad thing. Maybe it is sleep apnea and not insomnia. I only say that because I was up 7-10 time a night. I couldn't understand why I couldn't sleep, just tossing and turning. I happened to go in to see Dr. Azar (Exeter) because I had fluid in my ears. I told her about my sleep patterns and she immediately sent me for a sleep study. As much as a pain as it was, my oxygen levels were so low because I would stop breathing. I got a CPAP machine and I slept through the night like a baby. I guess it is going to help me during my recovery at the hospital too after my RNY procedure. So, it isn't bad to rule out apnea.
I'm interested in seeing how you do and when you get your date. I went to Portsmouth Regional Hospital and the program there has been incredible. If it won't set you back too much, maybe you can transfer. They are very good.
Karen, I heard from Pete that you are going through with this. Lap-band right? I opted for the RNY because Dr. Gens feels that I am active and athletic enough even still to do this and remain very healthy. Right now I have no complication due to obesity and I want to keep it that way. Plus, you know what diabetes has done to my family and I do not want it.
I have lost my pre-op weight (33 pounds) just by changing my diet. My wife became "Food Hitler" forgive the term, and it has done wonders for me. The big thing for me was that we cut out most of the carbs and flour products. Maybe that will help you. High protein snacks seem to get me through the day without hunger pains.
Funny thing Karen...I was just thinking the other day about when you were riding with me on the eve ofthe year 2000. At midnight we were watching the lights at Route 125 and Route 101 waiting for something to happen. I think we were both holding our breath and nothing happened. Too funny. Keep me informed.
Gotta run.
Talk to you guys later
