Hi,

I started the process on 10/15/07 and had my surgery on 8/11/08.  I had specific guidelines that my ins. required as well as Dartmouth Hitch**** and I completed them all by the end of April 2008.  Then I got the call from DHMC to make my initial appts with the nutrionist, nurse and surgeon.

It all depends on your group.  PRH has different requirements than others.  They all end in the same result though.

I went through PRH and Dr. Gens.  I went to the information meeting on April 1, 2008.  I had specific requirements to reach.  My first meeting with Nancy was May 5.  I completed all of my requirements by early June, and met with Dr. Gens the end of June.  I went through my medical testing, and had my final meeting with Dr. Gens in July.  Because of vacation schedules at work and with Dr. Gens, my surgery was not scheduled until August 15th.  So from start to fini**** took me 4 1/2 months.  It all depends on how quickly you meet your requirements, including the weight loss.

I hope this helps.

I went to the information night my doctor does on 6/26/07.  Within a couple of days, I had turned in my application, weighed in and gotten my goal for weight loss (most every practice has some sort of weight loss requirement, mine was 10%).  I had my surgery 11/7/07.  I could have had in October, I was all set by then, but bumped it up a few weeks as I had some commitments.  For most people, it is a long process, with lots of evaluations from different disciplines, but SO worth it.

I started the process in June 07 at CMC and had my surgery in April 08.  I didn't have to lose much weight, it was just waiting to get to the meetings and scheduling appointments, tests etc. I think it's going a little quicker now because they've added staff.  Although at times it seemed like the surgery would never happen, I'm so glad I did it and I think the time kept me from making a rash decision that I would have to live with forever.
Good Luck

I went to the informational meeting in May 2007 and had my surgery in July 2008.  My job and family committments prevented me from having the surgery earlier, but it all worked out just fine.

Well...as everyone has said...its different everywhere, and with each persons history, insurance and so on and so forth.  I went for my first appt on 6/26...had surgery on 9/2...and i could have had it earlier.  I also had little pre testing done, as i didn't have any co-morbidities.  Whatever your wait...its worth it though :)
