Hello Good people,
Well, I have been busy trying some protein alternatives.  I love TVP!  I made a soup with beans, ground turkey, veggies, and TVP.  It is yummy and has 20 g protein in 8 oz.  I also like Zero Impact Pumpkin bars.  I can eat a half of a bar without dumping.  I'd like to try some Oh Yeah bars cuz it looks like some of them are very low in sugar.  I have to order those though.  I've been putting canned pure pumkin (1/4 c) in my am protein shake.  I add lots of cinnamon.  It is good without adding too much sweetness.  I can't find any yogurts that aren't high in milk sugars so I haven't ventured there.  But I am very happy with these new "tools".

Gens is referring me to see an endocrinologist in Derry.  Dr. Raji has experience in dealing with WLS post-ops with metabolic disorders.  I have felt a bit better for the past week but my symptoms are still there - just a bit eased.  Funny that even though i feel better, my labs don't look any better.

I am down to 162 lbs - and so I've lost 48 lbs since surgery in Sept.  I am wearing a size 14 pant and medium or large tops.  I feel as though I have regained some level of mornal so ar as eating and daily life goes.  I walk my dogs several times a day and I swim when I feel up to it.  But I haven't felt well enough yet to really begin a workout routine.  Whether it is the anemia or something else, my muscles fatigue so quickly that rigorous exercise is right out.  My sciatic pain has been very high for the past many weeks and that also limits me.  Hopefully I will be able to get in for a nerve block procedure soon.

Well, I must go.  Tonight we deliver our homemade chocolates to the nieghbors.  We put on our Santa and Mrs. Claus hats and the three dogs will wear their Santa coats and we'll walk them with red leashes and pull the gifts in our red wagon.  Gotta love it!  Treading

Glad to hear you are doing better in the protein area!

I wouldn't really worry too much about getting into a workout routine at this point, save your energy for the walks with your dogs etc., you can always get into the exercise later once you are feeling better.

I hope the new doc can do something for you....sending positive thoughts your way......

Hi Treading,

I'm glad things seem to be improving for you. I have a question...what is TVP?
I hope you have a nice holiday.

Hi Treading,

Well I am certainly sending good thoughts your way.  It could be just adding the extra protein that is making you feel better for now.  Hopefully Dr. Raji can help with all other issues, and you can get into see him sooner than later!!!

Execellent weight loss for you.  Don't worry about the exercise, it will come in time.  You are doing more than many right now, including me!!!  Walking is the best exercise, so keep it up.

What a wonderful Christmas tradition.  Maybe take some pictures of you, your hubby and dogs, and put them on your site.  I would love to see.

Here's hoping your Christmas is uneventful, peaceful, and enjoyable.

TVP, Rosemary, is Textured Vegetable Protein.  It is defatted soy protein and looks like finely scrambled hamburger.  In my soup, it simply had no taste other than the taste of the broth.  Other people put some in their oatmeal and I will be mixing it into ground turkey and ground beef.  It has 12 g protein in 1/4 c.  I don't know if anyone eats it dry?  Good stuff.  Treading
