Knitting is so much more fun for me now that I can knit for myself.  I've made myself 2 sweaters this year and am working on a vest right now.  Next will be a hat/scarf combo.  You should definitely treat yourself to the knitting classes.  I know that for me, it's so relaxing, and it helps my eating because I don't want to eat when I'm handling my yarn.  If you decide to make a pair of socks, I have a pattern that's fairly easy that I can send you if you want.  I wish there were more knit shops in NH.  I've actually never been out to the Fiber Studio.  I did just discover a store in Derry - Yarn and Fiber Company.  What a nice store.  It's large and bright, and they have such beautiful yarns.  We have a very small shop in Manchester (Pearl's Yarn Shop).  She's in the process of closing, so I bought a whole bunch of wooden circular needles and a book last week from her.

Hi Treading,

I recently found the Isopure drinks in GNC, and tried them.  They are not bad.  I just have to have them very, very cold!!  Ice also dilutes them.  I drink half in the AM and half before going to the gym.  It seems to help me quite a bit.

And there is another good tip, Isopure drinks at GNC.  Thank you.  I will look for them.  I would consider the store in Nashua that others have talked about (name totally escapes me -not TJ's) where they get protein coffees?  But I have to be so careful cuz I seem to still be Miss Hyper Dumper.  One day this may please me but it sure makes adding new foods a dicey proposition.  LOL  I have not done much with fruits cuz I'm too scared.  I'll put a TBSP of baby prunes or baby bananas in a shake but that is all I've done.  Man, fruit has so many carbs!

When I was about 3 weeks post-op I tried some no carb ready-made protein drinks (EAS Myoplex Lite).  Well golly, they were disgusting.  I put them away.  On a frantically busy day this week I grabbed one for the drive to work and it was ...OK.  Not good but doable.  Things do change with time.  I'll be ordering some of that PB2 tonight.  So nice to chat with you, Ladies.

The store in Nashua is Nashua Nutrition.  They have a website also.  I order online from them all the time.  Their shipping is very reasonable, I even think free if you buy so much, and their prices are too.

treading. what about tuna? do you eat tuna at all? you get such high protein in such a small amount..i found a wls recipe site that you and others might find helpful.... i don't make the tuna patties to much or i might get sick of them, but when i do they are tasty..always here is the link to the site, this recipe also shows a pic of it and the protein count is very high.. and the flax seed gets things moving if ya know what i mean! hehe

Hello Sweet Pea,
Yes, tuna is protein packed and I do use it ...fairly regularly.  I do not love it but I have it 1-2 times a week.  I won't be attending support groups in Portsmouth - it is too long a drive for me (2+ hours).  Too bad because I am sure I am missing out but it is Derry for me every time.

TVP = Textured Vegetable Protein (I think).  I believe it is essentially soy protein that has been dried.  You toss it into things and it takes on the flavors of the other foods a lot like tofu (I'm told).
Thank you all for the helpful hints.  I will be shopping tomorrow and I'll be adding some items and I'll await my order of PB2 with eagerness!  Good luck to you in dealing with the storm.  Safe driving.  Treading

Have you ever tried the Greek Yogurt- Fage? I buy it at Market Basket (the cheapest), but Hannaford and Shaws also carry it. It packs 22 grams in just 1 cup! I mix a little Splenda, honey or fruit into it. It tastes like plain yogurt- but when doctored up- it is quite tasty!

I also like the Isopure Zero Carb 20 oz bottles from GNC. They look like a bottle of fruit punch ans pack a whopping 40 grams of protein. They are clear, fruit flavored- I esp. like the Grape, Blue Raspberry, Mango/Peach, and Fruit Punch. They are not cheap- but totally worth it for easy access. I think GNC has them online and lists the labels if you want more info. These drinks have been my life savers!!!! I sip on one almost every day- in the car, at home, at a friends when others are having soda, etc.....

Good Luck experimenting!

I love the greek yogurt.  I put sugar free jam in it, applesause, and the DaVinchi syrups.  I have one every day.

I tried the Orange chill Isopure, didn't really care for it.  Loved the fruit punch.  Will definately have to try the grape and blue raspberry.  I ordered something from Bariatric Advantage, but can't remember..it is like the profect, but a different brand.
