Protein Alternatives
When I was about 3 weeks post-op I tried some no carb ready-made protein drinks (EAS Myoplex Lite). Well golly, they were disgusting. I put them away. On a frantically busy day this week I grabbed one for the drive to work and it was ...OK. Not good but doable. Things do change with time. I'll be ordering some of that PB2 tonight. So nice to chat with you, Ladies.
bamma and teading, i can bring you a sample to try monday night at the meeting... i read that you ordered some bamma, but if you hanve't gotten it by then i'll give you a sneek peak of my supply...
i have not tried the tvp? was that the name of it? but i'm going to get me some this week. my protein has been down the toilet lately
treading. what about tuna? do you eat tuna at all? you get such high protein in such a small amount..i found a wls recipe site that you and others might find helpful.... i don't make the tuna patties to much or i might get sick of them, but when i do they are tasty..always here is the link to the site, this recipe also shows a pic of it and the protein count is very high.. and the flax seed gets things moving if ya know what i mean! hehe

Hello Sweet Pea,
Yes, tuna is protein packed and I do use it ...fairly regularly. I do not love it but I have it 1-2 times a week. I won't be attending support groups in Portsmouth - it is too long a drive for me (2+ hours). Too bad because I am sure I am missing out but it is Derry for me every time.
TVP = Textured Vegetable Protein (I think). I believe it is essentially soy protein that has been dried. You toss it into things and it takes on the flavors of the other foods a lot like tofu (I'm told).
Thank you all for the helpful hints. I will be shopping tomorrow and I'll be adding some items and I'll await my order of PB2 with eagerness! Good luck to you in dealing with the storm. Safe driving. Treading
I also like the Isopure Zero Carb 20 oz bottles from GNC. They look like a bottle of fruit punch ans pack a whopping 40 grams of protein. They are clear, fruit flavored- I esp. like the Grape, Blue Raspberry, Mango/Peach, and Fruit Punch. They are not cheap- but totally worth it for easy access. I think GNC has them online and lists the labels if you want more info. These drinks have been my life savers!!!! I sip on one almost every day- in the car, at home, at a friends when others are having soda, etc.....
Good Luck experimenting!

I tried the Orange chill Isopure, didn't really care for it. Loved the fruit punch. Will definately have to try the grape and blue raspberry. I ordered something from Bariatric Advantage, but can't remember..it is like the profect, but a different brand.
