How is everyone doing?????

Hi everyone.  Is everyone doing okay?  I am at work right now...on a Sunday!!  We still have no power, so I came here to pay some bills!! take a shower (ya really needing that!) and put in some orders on line for my candle business.  At least I have the ability to do that.

We have a small generator at home, so we are keeping the fridge and freezer going, put the coffee pot on in the AM, and television for a movie in the PM, and the water pump so we can flush.  Also have a coal stove in the basement that is basically keeping the house warm, and lots and lots of candles.  We found an old battery powered lantern, and a coleman lantern, so we are using those also.  We also have a gas stove, so we are able to cook, so we are probably better off than most.

Hubby's shop is still out of power.  They have multitude of wires down.  He spent yesterday cutting trees, one fell on the shop that houses the paint booth, but did not damage (thankfully).  My son and his girlfriend stayed at her mother's last night.  Hubby is hooking up the generator there tomorrow to get heat in the basement.

My daughter has electricity finally, but has been spending the days at the fire station in Epping to help out...she is an EMT, and her husband is an EMT and firefighter.  I have had my grandson for Friday, Saturday, and this morning.  She came and picked him up today.

So weare doing okay.  How about everyone else?  I guess you will be able to post when you finally get power.  They are saying it could be middle of the week before we finally get power.

WELCOME TO NEW ENGLAND!!!

We lost power at 3:45am Fri morning and got it back sometime Sat afternoon (we were out at the time and didn't know exactly when the lights came on).  We are so, lucky!  My parents in Washington and my husband's in Winchendon MA won't get getting back on line until god only knows when.  Hope everybody else is hanging in there and gets power soon!

Isn't it great to live in NE in the late fall and winter?
I'm in Nashua and we finally got our power back at 9:30 this morning. Thursday night I was having horrible stomach pains but was to stubborn to go to the hospital because my doctor(s) were not on call...I finally fell asleep at 3:30am and I guess Nashua lost power shortly after that....My hubby and I lucked out at the Nashua Marriott, someone had just canceled their reservation so we were able to at least get a room with heat and ho****er. half our neighborhood had power other than a 5 minute outage..go figure...well I worked today at my 2nd job at
Swan chocolates and let my hubby tackle the refrigerator We had to toss out most of everything, I didn't trust that it would still be good. Oh well out 200.00 (I just did my bi-monthly shopping) but the frig looks great.....
We are lucky if our power is back as the Derry area is not suppose to get power back for another 10-14 days...how they know it will take that long is beyond me...Hudson is still out too.
My hubby works at BAE and was called today to let him know that they do not have to report to work tomorrow...I never get that lucky....
Have a good night and send up a prayer for all still without power...

We still don't have power.  It went out Thursday shortly before 11.  We spent two nights with a friend who lives near Providence, and noww we're at a hotel just south of the Nh border in MA (makes it easier to get to work in the morning)

In the ice storm two years ago, we were without power for four days, so I'm expecting it to take them that long this time, if not longer.

Lost power at midnight on Thursday.  Huddled around the propane fireplace (the 'just for decoration' kind with the fake ceramic logs Friday and Saturday.  Almost out of propane.  Best friends got their power back Saturday at 8pm so we went over there.  We've got my family of six squatting in their trailer, making a total of nine of us in a trailer.  Best friends and their baby are in one bedroom, three of my kids are in the baby's room, hubbie, me and the fourth kid are in the livingroom.  But there is heat and power.

We spend a couple hours in the morning and evening at our house running the propane fake fireplace in an attempt to keep our pets alive.  We couldn't bring them with us, best friend already has five cats.  We had one death - my five year old's tropical fish was belly up after how cold as it's been.  My twelve-year old daughter's pet mice have been relocated to the fireplace room and are OK thus far.  The three cats seem fine.  The dog is very, very cold and very, very lonely.  We spend a couple hours in the morning and give him a proper walk and get at least the one room of the house with the fireplace liveable, then do the same at noon and evening.  But from about 10pm till 8am Max (the dog) has to try to make it on his own with no heat.  What we're really worried about is that we're going to run out of propane soon.  We can only take our dog to the shelter if we have a crate for him.  We don't and everyone is sold out of them.  Everyone is sold out of generators, too.  So right now we're warm and dislocated, but most worried about the dog.  Poor Max, this is all a  horrible ordeal for him.

Take care everyone.  I got to say, this really sucks.  :-(

Lord, give me stregth and when I lack it, patience.

Small golden retriver sized.  But good news.  Hubbie found a generator from a work friend he can borrow.  He's heading home with it now.  I'm going to Home Depot and Lowe's to see if I can still get a gas can.  If so then we're up and running soon.  If not then I'll use the one gallon lawn mower one we have.  It'll take time, but it's do-able.  I think as post-bypass people who have dealt with the day to day ups and downs of recovery back when we were all early outs, taking it by the hour isn't such a weird idea.  So I think in a few hours we'll at least have the furnace started.

As far as food goes, that was a run on Wal-Mart and Hannaford.  So when I do get the fridge cooled down again, we may have to go pretty far to find the basics.  The Rochester Hannaford was out of bread, bottled water and milk last night.  I found a loaf of cinnamon sugar breakfast bread at Wal-Mart.  While *I* certainly can't eat that, I've got four kids and right now they could use those extra calories.

So I'm off to home and will post again tonight if it goes smoothly and tommorrow if it goes more complicated.

Lord, give me stregth and when I lack it, patience.
