Kinda getting bored and frustrated...

Hi everyone,

I'm really starting to get bored and frustrated over the foods I can eat.  I feel like all I eat is cereal, deli meat, cheese, eggs and tuna.  My stomach can't tolerate much more than that.  I tried a new protein bar that had 3g of sugar (7g of alcohol sugar) and 20g protein.  Took 2 bites and my stomach is gurggling up a storm.  I can tell it doesn't like it.  I'm grilling a burger (w/cheese, no bun) for dinner.  I can sometimes tolerate that.  Also, I'm tired of water.  I can't haven anything with Splenda in it because I get tremendous gas and it makes me feel icky.  I have 1 cup of coffee in the morning, and that is fine with my stomach.  UGH!  I guess I'm just having a crappy day.  I want to eat more things, but have the fear of vomitting it up like I have before.  I hate the "stuck" feeling I get when I eat certain foods.  Sorry for the babble, and thanks for letting me vent.

Hi Lisa,

I know the feeling of being bored with food.  I have been there also.  I seriously wondered if I could do this for the rest of my life!!  But I have found that with a few tricks, I have actually been able to add some spark to my diet.

Have you tried greek yogurt?  I mix a little bit of sugar free jam in with it, and it is yummy.  Also, Crystal Light is made with aspartame.  Ocean spray has also put out cran-grape and other flavors in single serving packets.  They also have aspartame in them.  Also have you tried fish?  The key to all foods is to cook them so they don't dry out.  I found some dressings from Maple Leaf Farm (I think). They are sugar free, and are in the salad dressing aisle.  They are really good, and I put them on almost everything.  You can also try some plain salad dressing as a marinade.  Make sure your food is very moist, and not dry.  That may be part of what your stuck feeling is all about.  Anyway, I hope this has helped a little bit.

Hi Lisa,
Bored and frustrated are not my issues right now.  Stark terror is more like it for me.  I'm still struggling to find any protein poweder I can tolerate so getting even 20 g of protein in a day is an eneormous chore.  Of course I'm a month behind you so I'm still on mushies.  I dumped horribly on 6 g of sugar in a cup of soy milk.  So Now I am stuck wth only those foods that keep me at 4 g or less.  Pretty limiting, I can tell you.  Thank good ness for baby foods is all I can say.  I also find I am enjoying teas very much.  I like Earl Gray and Constant comment (decaf).  I put a dollop of soy milk in them and they are very soothing.  Treading

Well, I can't remember the last time I had a protein shake.  I won't even go there.  The thought of them make me sick.  I do drink the Isopure fruit drinks that have 40g of protein in a 20oz bottle.  I try to get at least a half a bottle down every day.

I've tried fish.  I even ordered a ton of it from Schwan's (like $80 worth) and it didn't sit well with me.  I'll try it again soon, but the pain  it gave me is hard to forget.

I think a big part of my problem is I'm not chewing good enough.  After a certain amount of chewing, I think the food tastes gross so I sometimes swallow before it's mush.  I'll work on that.

I tried Crystal Light and it gives me gas...

Water, coffee & Isopure are the drinks I can tolerate right now.
