Still In the Thick Of It
Hello,
First, thanks so much for the needed support. This has been an ordeal and no mistake. I was taken off of all whey protein on Tuesday morning and had nothing bu****er till 6 PM and then had a soy protein drink made with soy milk (total of 6 g sugar). AND was I sick???? It was like I'd drank poison. I dumped horribly and I began dry heaving like to rip my guts out. I totally reinjured my left incisional site. Well, DH was on the phone with the doc in a hurry and he is pretty sure I am just not going to tolerate any powders at all now. So, I backed up and did nothing but clear liquids yesterday and today I was told to try some baby meats. Meat mush, you know. It went OK. I still have terrible diarrhea but the huge doses of immodium mean I am not going very often. At least I'm able to keep hydrated. Tonight I cooked 1/8 c of egg beaters. And that went OK, too. Of course I feel pretty drained. And the pain is awful when I walk. But despite all I feel better and I am not having any of the dizziness or shakyness and that's wonderful. I think my recovery is going to be pretty slow! LOL. Getting 60 g of protein without powders is not easy but I may have no choice but to build up to it. Sounds like some people eventually get over initial intolerances? Maybe? Hope so. Miss you all but I can't sit too long. Treading

It just doesn't seem fair that you have to go through this horrible ordeal, Treading. You worked so hard at being prepared for this surgery. I am really sorry that you feel so sick, and I hope things start looking up for you ASAP. Keeping hydrated is most important right now.
"I am not the skin I'm in, but the soul within."
aw heck. i wish something would go right for you! i truly hope the intolerances go away with time to make things a little easier for you and DH. I know the pain when you stand and walk - brings you to tears, huh? Gosh, I just feel awful you are feeling so awful.
Rest, relax, heal and get that protein in. We'll all be thinking of you.
Take care!

Hi Friend,
Have you tried any of the protien shakes that you can mix just with water? I know that I tried the unjury chicken broth and it was pretty good. Also, I liked a few of the Nectar ones that were like iced tea or lemonade.... Of course, who wants to TRY anything just now???
Is it all dairy, do you know? Cheese, yougert? Greek yougert is pretty good with some splenda in it and has way more protien than regular.
Sorry your going through all that.
Michelle
