feeling great...but!
So, i've been home since Thursday, and I must say I feel great, except for an occassional twinge of pain that doesn't even require meds. BUT....i'm having trouble getting enough in. I am far below my fluids...maybe only around 40ozs....if i'm lucky. And for Protein...forget it. I'm at about 30grams. I'm going to try hard today to do better...i woke up early, and started early. I have been sleeping in since i've been home. But when i go back to work, i'll be up much earlier so it will give me more time to do it. Anyone else have this problem...maybe its normal to take a few weeks to build up to the required amounts of fluids and protein??
Thanks for any of your help!

Hi Kristene,
I was the same way. I had no idea how I was going to get all those requirements in. Just take it 1 day at a time. Last week I found (at GNC) Isopure drinks. There's 40 grams of protein per 20oz. bottle. There are quite a few flavors too. I like the grape frost and icy orange best. So, after I walk in the morning, I pour myself 1/2 a bottle and sip it and there's 20g of protein. I also bought unflavored protein powder and put it in my milk with cheerios. Hang in there. It does get better.

You are doing just fine. Remember, you went from a large area to a very small area to fill, and it is better to be conservative, than to try and eat too much, and get sick. I have also tried the Special K water, and it is not bad. Haven't tried the Isopure yet. That sounds good, but that is a great way to get you protein in, and your fluids.
You're doing fine. Just keep on a-trucking. To be honest, it took me exactly 11 months to be able to get the full 64 oz. of water in! I tried every day though. Finally, I was able to do it. As far as the protein, you should really try for those 60 grams. The protein drinks really help. When you are able to eat it, tuna is really high too. For my protein drinks, I make 8oz. skim milk, 1 choc. CIB and 1 scoop of EAS Whey powder (choc.) It's about 35 grams for one pretty good chocolate shake. At almost a year out, I still have one everyday for breakfast to get me going.

I buy mine at Sam's Club, but they have it at Wal-Mart, and I've also seen it at Stop & Shop in Bedford. At Sam's, they have it in chocolate and vanilla. I've never tried the vanilla. As I said, I mix it with a chocolate CIB and skim milk. Together, they taste really good. I've never had it alone or mixed with water though.

Hi Kathy.....Sorry called you Kim....oh what senior moments I am having lately!!
Thanks for the info. I have had a hard time finding the powder. I find that the EAS is not as sweet as the Fortress. The vanilla Fortress is really sweet!! I have been also mixing with CIB in the AM, and I like it..easy, quick, and gives me a great shot of protein.
Don't worry about the name thing. I can see where my username would make it easy to think my first name is Kim, but it really stands for Kathleen Marie.
As far as protein powders, I've never tried anything but the chocolate EAS. I liked it from the start, so I figured I wouldn't mess with anything else.
