Surgery in One week
Hi Treading,
Glad to here you are almost on the loser's side. It so much easier when you have everything ready. The doctors are right when they tell you to get up and start walking as soon as they let you. When you go in tell Nurse Anita I said hi. Don't forget you will have lab works to do (twice) these coming weeks. The first one should be right after your appt and the second lab draw is a day or two before surgery. Good luck and enjoy having your husband take care of you.

It all is pretty surreal! I remember not even believing it was really going to happen even that morning....until we started with the IV stuff! Now it is hard to believe I am on the losing side.
However---today I opened a can of Hormel chili and dished it into three 4oz. containers....and laughed thinking a few weeks ago I could easily eat two cans!! This surgery should be for all the economically challenged! :)

Nurse Anita? I'll be sure to say 'hi'. LOL. Thanks to all, and Cindy, you've been with me since my first step down this road, eh? Yep, it's getting very close. I have so much to do at work that I'll be signing work papers in the OR! I'm grateful though cuz it really helps to pass the time. I saw Kristen, the Derry RD, last night and we went over my last diet instructions. I was very pleased to learn I can switch Soy milk for dairy and FF ricotta is also acceptable in Stage 3. Good. I'm going to be doing protein shakes for 2 meals from now on ****il I have to go to clear liquids). Maybe it won't make any difference but I have this idea that it might help me prevent another ileus episode and save me 2-3 days in hospital. Maybe not but it can't hurt so I'm going to give it a whirl. I feasted on LOBSTER tonight as my 'last horrah'. They are on sale for 4.99 lb at MB so I went in and had them steam up 4 and DH and I had a real set-to. I am hoping I won't lose my taste for lobster as it is a noble protein. But the butter is a goner so I've had my fill and they were delicious. If I never want them again, I won't miss them, right? DH and I each redid our living will/health agent documents tonight. Parkland has a very good booklet and we liked it better than our previous ones so we're all up to date with that. I feel strongly about having that sort of stuff taken care of before I need it.
Before my other surgeries I had to shower and scrub my back repeatedly with a special pre-surgical scrub. Funny that I wasn't even instructed to shower at all. Trust me, I will. It is strange that requirements vary so much. Oh, I hated the NSA CIB vanilla. Hated it! My samples from vitalady.com arrived and the ISO Pure Vanilla? Pure heaven! I also added a 1 oz jigger of Divinci watermelon to tonight's shake and WOW! Yummy. One never knows, do one?

Hey Treading,
Just a side note. I bought two bottles of liquid adult Tylenol, I got sick on the first dose. Spent a lot of time in the bathroom, I think there is too much sugar in it for me. I spoke with Nancy and she thinks it was the sugar as well. However, I am the first one to say anything about it so maybe it is just me. I bought the extra strength Tylenor (walmart round tablets) and just crush up two of them when I need it. Good Luck on your surgery, I kept busy up until my surgery day.

Thanks Jaimbry,
Good tip. I had read of others dumping on the liquid tylenol (yes, full of sugar). The boards have posts that tell you to dilute it with water. But in those early days when you can't drink much, maybe it isn't a great way to get the dose in? Well, I have two bottles but I can surely grind up tablets, too. And I will. I'm sorry you weren't aware of this as a potential problem. Treading
