Surgery in One week

HI all,
Surgery in 9 days!  I've worked myself to the bone this weekend trying to prepare easy meals for DH and about a half-million other chores.  My freezer is now stuffed.  I have everything I need except SF pops and I will have plenty of time next weekend for getting those.  Our dog sitter will be coming and staying at the house so my 3 pooches will love that.  My Dh was able to get 2 weeks off so I am more than covered there.  I swear I coul rent him out as a health care advocate cux he is incredible.  He makes you feel like hanging around hospital rooms and checking IV tubing for kinks is what he lives for.  Truth is he is utterly non-medical and hates all of it until you need him and then he rises like a hero out of the fox hole.  He is jolly and quick to make freinds with all the staff and patients and it adds so much to the experience.  I have  protein powders, soups, jello...alll the basics.  I have friends and family anxious to help.  I see Kristen, the RD, in Derry on Tuesday night.  But that is it.  That is my final, fianl, last apt.  I almost can't believe it.  And now its time for me to hit the sack.  I'm beat.  Treading

Good Luck Treading!!!  I know ecxactly where your at. I'm 1 week out. My surgery is on the 15th. Trying to make sure everything is in order and taken care of before hand can be a chore. My wife (cindita) has been an angel through this. Of course she knows what I'm going though, but I could not have come this far withour her love and support. I cant stress how important support from home is.
I have one more week of liquid diet. It is alot harder than I thought it was going to be. After a life time of fast food and pizza, a guy can only eat so much broth and yogurt without going crazy.
So, wish me luck that I dont give in to temptation and if there is anything Cindy or I can do to help you or your family to get ready for the journey let us know.

WOW, what a great job, and a wonderful support system.  You and your hubby get a gold, rather platinum star for a job well done.  We will be thinking of you.  You have been terrific support for me, and I really appreciate it.

Good luck!  It sounds like you're very detail oriented.  It REALLY helps to have support.  Sounds like you have that too!  2 weeks off is great.  My husband took 1 week off which was a great help, but 2 is fantastic.  Best of luck.  Hold on tight.  You're in for the ride of your life!

My Goodness!  You are so well prepared!  I am lucky that my husband works right here in town so all I need to do is call him should I need anything!  He is definitely not the medical person type and doesn't like to see the incisions or hear all the gory details but he is there to support me 100%.

Well, off to do chores that I can do and get some more rest.

Thanks everbody!
Yep, I like to plan and research and prepare and do, do, do.  It also helps pass the time.  I'm not afraid and don't think I will feel any panic.  I found last week very long indeed.  I hope this wek will go a bit faster cuz.... I still have a long list.  But its the fun stuff now - take measurements and pics of me pre-op.  Take pics of pups and flower gardens to have in the hsopital, go to library for some audio books - that sort of thing.  And then there's work which I better get back to......  Treading

My goodness, it's finally here!  I knew we'd be close together and we still will be!  Fabulous news, I can't believe time has gone by so quickly.  Your DH sounds like a keeper!  You are very lucky to have that support system.

Best of luck in the next 9 days!  Stay sane!

Hey Jenn,
Thanks.  Sounds like you are picking up a bit, eh?  Good .  You've had a rough time and no mistake.  But the time does pass and it goes quicker than I'd ever have expected it.  It seems like a moment ago that I was thinking - Yikes!  just 12 weeks to go and now......  Good stuff.   I'm going to put on the same pants and top from back in Feb and do the line-up pics and then take my measurements.  Fun.  I know I'll appreciate having the record.  And down to 2 weeks for you, Jenn.  Woohoo.  Treading
