I love working for the State.  I work in the Public Health Labs and I believe the work we do is valuable.  We do the testing for rabies, EEE and West NIle Virus.  We do much more than that, too.  I used to be a lab rat at the bench and I loved the science of it.   My back went south on me and now I am at a desk job - data managment sort of stuff.  I'm grateful to have the education that allowed me to make the switch.  I do miss the lab work though.  What I love best is using the technology.  I love numbers and stats and so usign the IT systems is very cool.

I decided the day after Christmas to persue RNY.  I knew it would be alot of work and that the lifestyle I had of working nights, hating my boss, high stress and plentiful donuts would sabatage me.  So I am on sabatical.  Or rather, I quit my job with no intention of necessarily returning to it, but going back to SOMETHING next year.  From New Years last till the upcoming New Years I'm just working on me.  My lifestyle.  My health.  I will revisit and decide about my future on Jan. 1 and not before.

And yes, I know am I very, very lucky that I can afford to do that.  My *other* job is mom of four - ages 5, 7, 11, and 14.  Previously that was my day job (home with the kids) and then I had a night job to earn a paycheck.  I am really enjoying keeping "normal" hours and developing a sleep schedule!!!  :-)

So my new job is take care of the kids & family, take care of me, eat healthy protein, get enough sleep, and exercise.  The pay isn't great but you can't beat the fringe benefits!

Lord, give me stregth and when I lack it, patience.

What a great choice.  Sometimes we have to chose between money and health.  And who said being a full time mom was not a job!!!!  You have more of a job than anyone of us here, especially with four kids. (who are very lucky I might add)

I love my job - every part of it.  I work for a bankruptcy judge, and I have worked for him or with him at his prior law firm since 1981.  The only bad thing that I can think of is that my job as his judicial assistant will come to an end sometime soon.  I don't know when, but he will be retiring at some point, and since my job is tied directly to his, I will be out of work when he leaves the bench.  Oh well, all good things must come to an end.  Usually, when a door is closed, God opens a window, so I'm not going to worry about it right now.
