Edamame - Dry Roasted - BLAH-Pooey
They grow on you. I bought my first bag last week, by the time I was done I was starting to enjoy them. They're not peanuts, but they 14 grams of protein in 1/4 cup and it's a crunchy and easy snack. I measure it out and leave it in a bowl on my desk or the cupboard at home and just pick at them all day. I'm going to order the wasabi flavored. I was telling my Mom about them the other day and how I couldn't believe that I was actually enjoying them. She told me you can learn to like anything if you give them a chance.
Too funny. I looked it up and learned a bit: edamame are soy beans but picked while still green. The more common soy nut (which I've used for years as a salad garnish) is the same bean but picked much later when the plant has dried and hardened. How odd that I like the soy nut and not the same thing only a bit younger and greener. I do paln to try them from the frozen pods and I'll steam them. But I think I'll stick to the soy nuts for now. Soy is a marvelous plant. Heck, I may even find I like tofu some day!
