Tuesday's the big day...suggestions on things i will need???

So...my surgery is Tuesday.  My kids start school that day, but i didn't want to change my date, i've waited so long for this.  My other options were the very end of the month.  I was out and about ALL day today, getting last minute school things....WOW, the stores were awful!  I also did some shopping for things i will need when i get home.  My nutritionist talked about Sugar Free CIB....but i couldn't find it anywhere.  It also says in my guide that i can do the Slim Fast Optima.  Now i have tried that, and i like it...but it seems so rich and thick.  Has anyone tried it....how did it go?  I have picked up some SF jello, lots of water.  Any suggestions of things that I might need in the hospital, or for the first wee****il i get out and about again?  I'm sure i will be fine, but i'm just getting a little nervous...OK..ALOT nervous.  I just want to be prepared.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Kristene

First off, congrats Kristene.  Time must be either whizzing by or at a near stand still?  But you're almost there.  I do have a few tips:  the CIB you want is No Sugar Added (they don't make a SF variety to my knowledge) and the Slim Fast Low Carb cans are the ones you should buy.  The Optima has too much sugar for a RNY patient and not enoungh protein for any of us (band or RNY).  The Slim Fast Low Carb cans have blue labels.  I recently teied the EAS Advatage ready-made protein drinks (chocolate - 17 g protein) and liked them tons more than the Slim Fast ones.  I also tried the Atkins Strawberry but didin't like them at all.  Of course, my tastes may chnage post-op but that's what I have learned so far...  Everyone says the must haves are pillow, chapstick, breath mint, and Crstal Light single serves.  Best of luck to you.  Treading

I bought th No Sugar Added CIB on amazon (in canisters, not single serve packs)-  with the free shipping, it ended up being cheaper than in the stores near me.  If you go to the carnation website, they have a store finer that will tell you where they sell it near you.  My Market Basket JUST started selling it.

Good luck Tuesday!

Hi Kristene -

I just want to wish you luck tomorrow.  I'll be thinking of you.  Remember, no matter how much it hurts, get up and walk as soon as they ask you to!

Let us know how you're doing as soon as you can.

I just wanted to thank everyone for their support and suggestions.  I'll be in surgery in less than 12 hours.  I have to be there at 530am....something tells me i won't be sleeping much tonight! I'll check in when i get home....which i hope will be Sunday.

Thanks again,

Kristene :)
