8/24 QOTD: Free share!
Here's my random free share-
I went up in to the attic today to bring down the winter clothes. I also brought down the box of "someday" clothes (you know, my favorite sweaters and things that I refuse to throw away because SOMEDAY they'll fit me again?) Well, it looks like my someday is here!! In fact, I have a small pile to give to the Goodwill store because they're too big!
Sure, the sweaters are six years old and probably WAY out of style (if they were ever in style to begin with, since I've never been a fashionista) but I DON'T CARE! They fit again, and I am wearing them this winter!
At the end of this winter, I'll start checking out the clearance racks to buy some clothes in smaller sizes.

I went to Kmart in Hooksett last night and they were having some good clearance sales....I was trying to imagine what size I might be next summer...but alas, I have NO IDEA. They had some really cute stuff. I did manage to find a 3/4 length sleve top for $4 that is two sizes down from where I am now. I have no idea how quickly sizes will be moving....in a way that is kind of scarey. Will I wake up one day with NOTHING to wear?
You will lose weight really fast since you had RNY. Even with my predicted slow loss, I still don't know what size I'll be. It's hard to figureout- I mean, I have ALWAYS been overweight, so I just assume that I will always wear extra large sizes. It's hard to imagine being small.
Still, I doubt it will happen so fast that you'll literally wake up with nothing to wear. If you go out each weekend and buy one new piece of clothing in whatever size you are in at the time, you'll be fine.
And as someone in support group said the other day, Wal Mart clothing is your best friend while you're losing weight. If you spend $15 on a pair of pants and only wear them four times, you aren't going to be upset.

Michelle,
My advice to you is don't try to be too much stuff ahead of schedule. In fact, when you buy something, you may want to get it a little snug because by the time you get it home and put it on, it will fit perfectly -- really!
I really wouldn't buy too many things for the future. I know that I went out and bought quite a bit of summer stuff just 2 weeks ago because we'll be heading to Jamaica next Feb/March. I don't have any summer clothes, and I remember that last year, it was really just spring stuff that was out in February, and I wanted to be sure to have a bathing suit and some shorts and stuff for Jamaica. So anyway, JC Penney was having a big sale and I bought some shorts and tops. They're already starting to get a little baggy on me -- and this summer isn't even over yet!
Yes, you could actually wake up one day and having nothing to wear - I had a day like that myself. But believe me, it's a good feeling. And it's no big deal because it's not like you can't run down to Wal-Mart or someplace and grab something off the rack that will fit perfectly because you'll be able to do that now!

"I am not the skin I'm in, but the soul within."
I'd like to share a personal WLS journey insight. I rarely sit down. I mean, I just do, do, and do. I have to be doing something (productive) and working off of my beloved To Do list. And suddenly I know, I just know , my weight is a big reason why this is so. In some dysfunctional way, I guess I don't think I am thin enough to sit the heck down and enjoy a book or TV show. How's that for a comorbidity! LOL. Well they say recognition of a problem is half of the solution so...we'll see.
Too cool about the attic clothes, Michele. Woohoot for you. I've done really well at Goodwill and have lots of things to look forward to wearing even though, I too, don't half believe I will ever fit into those tiny things. I am very anxious to get rid of my current clothes. I mostly hate them all. Strange to think I bought them. Treading

You and I are very similar in the "go go go" aspect. Have you thought about how this is going to affect your weight loss? I've been wondering about it myself and trying to come up with strategies to make that personality trait work in my favor, like sitting down and making a weekly menu (right down to snacks.) Structure is a good thing.
Do you think you can use "me" time as a reward for your weight loss? Or as a reward for sticking to your exercise plan? For every five hours that you exercise, you get an hour to youself to do whatever you WANT to do, not what HAS to get done?

I have a couple of topics I'd like to share. Today I went to a birthday party. I went prepared - brought my 33 oz water, a package of tuna, and a string cheese. So I think I'm the model WLS patient. Well when it came time to eat I got a little bit of salad, asked for balsamic and added my tuna. Good girl. Then all of a sudden I felt like everyone was watching me. All in my head ofcoarse. So I proceed to inhale my plate. My daughter had to say to me slow down - what are you doing. She's walked in my shoes so she said right away no one is looking at what you are eating. It was too late and I paid for it. I had that oh jezz I ate to fast feeling. I am surprised at how self concious I was. But it was the first time I've seen many of these people since my surgery. Being so overwieght for so long has really played with my head.
When it comes to clothes I am so lucky. My daughter gave me tubs full of really nice clothes. After her first baby she put on a few pounds so last fall and winter she bought 14s and 16s. Well she's pregnant again so all those clothes are now mine. She's a teacher and dresses conservative when going to school so they work for me too. :) She gave me a couple of dresses with the tags still on them.
I know what you mean about always doing something - for me it's because I think people would think I was the lazy fat woman. Even at a restaurant I pick up the table!!

I had one of those "eating too fast" moments over the weekend too. We were at a hotel with one of those huge breakfast buffets. Luckily I sensed right away that I had eaten too much, so I just got up, threw the rest of the plate away, and went for a walk outside. Deep breathing and fresh air really helped me get control of myself. I don't know what caused me to do it- habit I guess. This sure is a learning process!
