Just checking in

Wanted to let everyone know that I am fine.  I posted on the RNY board but not here...yesterday?  My surgery went fine, things went 'like clockwork'.  First day was pretty icky---slept A LOT thanks to the wonderful meds....lots of nausea.  Every day is getting better.  Today I actually decided to stop the narcotics during the day hours and take them just at night.

WAY harder to get in those fluid ounces than I ever imagined.  Just don't 'feel' like drinking...or eating.  9:45 and just having a protien shake now to make sure I have my protien in for the day.  All in all, I am very pleased.

Bad IV experience.  The anesthesiologist had to go for three different sites---nasty.  Then that one blew out on Tuesday evening.  I cried like a baby when they said they would have to start a new one.  I tried everything short of a bribe.....the charge nurse simply wouldn't hear of it.  Took her a good hour to get one.....heat packs and all....for another 15 hours in the hospital.  UGH.

If I never have to have another IV it will be too soon.

Wow, I am shocked at how much my intestines rumble.  My MIL said it sounds like a lion roaring!

All good.

Welcome Home Michele!
So good to know you are home and doing a little better.  IVs - my nemesis!  I've had several horrid and similar experiences.  So bad and so many that the anxiety of knowing I have to have an IV makes my veins just run and hide.  And I have to have IVs quite frequently, poor me.  So when Gens saw my history of blown veins and having to go to the OR to start a new IV - he ordered me to have a PICC line put in for my upcoming surgery.  I'm not looking forward to having that put in, I can tell you!  But I know it is the right thing to do so I will get through it.
But enough of the icky stuff.  You've come through so far so good and you're on the mend.  Great.  Rest and sip, sip, sip and walk, walk, walk.  Thanks for checking in - Treading

Congratulations on your surgery.  I'm glad everything went okay for the most part, and what didn't was still a good trade off for your new life.  Hope all continues to go well for you.

Welcome back!  Glad to hear everything went okay.  Over the next few months, you'll be surrprised at all the noises your body is going to make.  Sometimes I feel like a one-man-band with all the tooting, burping and creaking sounds my body makes!

Welcome back.  That stinks about the IV though.  Every day will get easier and easier.
