I can see myself ten years from now on the front cover of OH magazine - looking thin and healthy and happy!  Millions of adoring fans want to know just why I was so successful in keeping my weight of for a whole ten years.....

Readers Digest because they have such inspiring stories. I hope when all is said and done for me that my perserverence through some tough times and the changes I'm right now trying to make will some day inspire someone :)

I think I'd like to be featured in two:   Health because my story of turning my very unhealthy life around could be inspiring to others, and Style because it would be fun to be in there as being a "stylish person!"  Aaaaah,  we can dream . . .

I think I would want to be in Oprah Winfrey's magazine "O".  She gives a lot of attention to weight loss and weight related issues.  I think that there has been too much "celebrity" influence on weight loss surgery.  An article featuring several everyday people who have gone through RNY and Lap Band would certainly take the stigma off of the surgery and on to the growing need for WLS.  No longer would this be a surgery for the rich and famous to lose weight for the wrong reasons.

I have mixed feelings about this idea.  I agree that a few celebrity endorsements would remove the unfair stigma-  but I worry that if celebrities start talking about it, then people who don't need or aren't prepared for the surgery will want it, which means LOTS of inexperienced doctors would start performing them, leading to higher complication rates, and the stigma would end up right back on it!

I think it would be cool to be in O magazine though.  It's very uplifting.
