The thunderstorms that just rolled through this afternoon were pretty scary-  I felt like jumping out of my skin a few times, and my son was terrified!  He doesn't usually scare easily, but the storm was right on top of us.  The lightening was so bright, and the thunder shook the house.  He just wanted to hide under a blanket.  Poor little guy!

We live in a flood zone and have been evacuated by the fire department a few times, so that was pretty scary.  When you are told you have only a few minutes to get out, you discover quickly that all the "stuff" you own is really not important, as long as your family is safe.

the scariest moment for me was a few years ago, I was driving down the road and it started to pour so hard that you could not even see, and then it started to hail.  I could not even see the side of the road to pull over.  Cars were stopping in the middle of the road.  I had never been so scared as I was at that moment.

Last summer, while trying to pick raspberries, I was struck by lightning -- not a direct hit, but it went through the raspberry bush and through my arm as I was picking the raspberry and took the breath out of me.  Felt tinging and numbness on my right side for a few minutes -- I guess that was the scariest for me.  Doesn't it seem like Mother Nature is upset with us?  These last couple of years, she has really unleashed her fury all over the world more so than in the past.

In 2001 our house was struck by lightening. It was a Sunday and we had a house full of family when boom. It struck our gas line and bent the thing in half. We had a wall of railroad ties in the bacl of the gas tank and it blew the timbers throughout the yard. We lost our heating system, computer, telephones and tv - all replacable. Thank God everyone was not hurt. Since then I am terrified of thunder storms...so this morning I was home alone and kaboom. I actually grabed my protien shake and ran into the car and headed to work about 30 minutes earlier then I had to leave!!
