Does anyone have any personal experience with Harvard Pilgrim.  I am scheduled for surgery on 9/2/2008.  They just sent in the request and tell me I have no worries...but i'm worried.  I have a BMI of 45...though no co-morbidities.  They tell me Harvard is one of the easiest insurances to get approved but i was just wondering if anyone had any experience with them??

I had Harvard Pilgrim until 7/1 of this year and started the process in April of this year.  As long as it is a rider on your insurance there isn't any problems.  When you pay Dr Wagner he'll submit it to the insurances and they will reimburse you a good portion of it back (at least they did for me).  I now have Health Plan which is an affiliate of Harvard Pilgrim and still did not have any problems getting approved.  It took about a week once the paperwork was submitted to them.

Hi Kris34,
I have Harvard Pilgrim and my BMI was 42 with a few co-morbidities.  They are great. We've had them for about 5 years and never had a problem.  When I went to the doc's office for pre-op the office girl told me that they love Harvard Pilgrim because they never turn anyone down and they're great to work with.  I've heard this from other doc's office also.

I have CIGNA and they're a bit@# to work with regarding WLS from what I'm told.  So be happy you've got HP.  Good luck.

Not to worry, I had and still have Harvard Pilgrim, my hubby works for BAE Systems and they are great. I only paid for my psyh. eval $400.00 and that was because the darn doctor wouldn't submit it to the insurance company.
Harvard paid everything else and they even paid for my TT 18 months later because they paid for my RNY. Of course I'm sure they took one look at the pic's the PS took to see that I really needed to have a TT cause I was a mess and my panni hung half way down my thigh's. lol
Your in good hands with Harvard.
Good luck with your surgery, that's my birthday so it will be a good day for you too....
