Butter and sugar sandwhiches.

Okay, and people WONDER why I am heavy??  This is the kind of 'family favorites' I was handed....

Now that I know what I know about nutrition, I too am not at ALL surprised that I was always overweight!  I grew up on hamoburger helper and spam!!!

We drank soda, and there were always cookies and cake in the house.  So in addition to eating CRAP at mealtimes, we were also eating a LOT of junk in between meals.  Yikes,

Macaroni and cheese.  Loved it and now it is so tasteless to me such a  waste of calories.

I used to make a batch of confectioner's frosting and eat it all (when no one was around).  Pretty sad, huh?

We used to have Crisco potatoes too.  Peeled potatoes that are halved, rubbed all over with Crisco and then baked in the oven til golden brown.  They're yummy, but oh so bad for you!  Why I wasn't 1000 pounds by the time I had surgery, I'll never know!

Yes, me too.  Butter and sugar sandwiches (when the meat had run out and dad hadn't been paid yet).

Also, hostess cupcakes and twinkies.

Custard Pie, Oreos, all  kinds of German Pastries (my mom was German), noodles, oh, I could go on forever.  Now that I eat to live instead of living to eat, things are very different.  I still enjoy what I have, but I make my choices (most of them, anyway) with a lot more mindfulness.

I'm French Canadian so anything with butter & cream & lots of gravy - and ending every meal with something sweet, I still miss the sweet after a meal but I'll get over it in time (at least I hope, LOL). I just make sure I'm very mindful of the choices I make.  Keep the faith,  Linda
