QOTD: 7/24 Favorite vacation spots
What are your favorite vacation spots (whether you've been there or not?)
I really want to go to Hawaii, so right now it's number 1 on my list. The problem is that it takes SO long to get there from New Hampshire!!
# 2 is Alaska (went on a cruise in 2004 that was just amazing and would love to go again)
# 3 if money were no object, I'd get a nice RV and do a cross country trip, stopping at lots of historical sites along the way.

1.
I love Hawaii and was lucky enogh to live there as a kid. We have taken our kids there a few times. I still have Family there including my Dad and my 97 year old Grandmother- so we try to make it there once a year so my kids can get to know their Great Grandma.. It is great to be able to enjoy the non-tourist parts of the island.
2.
Since I do have a Family- (a 6 and 7 year old) our close to home, reasonable vacation place is Totem Pole Park in Freedom NH on Lake Ossipee. It is a GREAT place for families - with no TV, no Computer, no chores and other stuff at home to nag away at me, it is totally relaxing. Just the lake, bikes, fishing, campfires...
3.
My total fantasy vacation with just my Husband would be to travel Europe (Italy, France...)

My Mom lives on Merrymeeting Lake in New Durham, and it is God's best-kept secret. So that's my favorite place. Right after that would be the Playacar area of Mexico. We go there or someplace near there every year. (The lake is great, but in Mexico, there is no work to be done whatsoever- just pampering.)
My dream vacation is to go to Paris and Holland.
Several years ago, we went out to Boise, Idaho, to visit my husband's cousin, and she took us up to Yellowstone National Park and to Montana. That was a wonderful trip. I also loved San Francisco.
We've been to Disneyworld twice, and we always had a blast, yet I would place that last on my list.
My husband and I have talked about the RV after retirement. I would love to do that.

I've never been much of an island person- but I wonder if that's because I've always been overweight and didn't want to be seen in a bathing suit!
My ten year wedding anniversary is in two years. I'd always said I wanted to go to Hawaii to renew our vows (and get beautiful pictures at sunset.) But with the way the economy is, maybe I'll change it and go to Jamaica or a resort somewhere instead!
