While I am in the begining of my weight loss (6 wks post)  I am finding out that I think I have some issues that I need to work out, because "food" isn't an option anymore.  I am finding myself cheating here and there, and I am at a point where I want to stop.  I live in New Hampton, and i was wondering if anyone knew of a good psycholgist that deals with wls in this area.  My first choice is to travel down to Portsmouth, but with the gas prices and everything, and the 1 1/2 hr drive.  But it would be worth it.
If anyone has any ideas, please pm me.

Thanks!

I don't have any suggestions, but I want to commend you for seeking help. I had some issues that I had been trying to deal with by myself for years before I finally broke down and saw somebody. Within just a few sessions, she was able to help me get everything straightened out. I wish I hadn't wasted so much of my life trying to resolve everything on my own.

I found mine by looking at the preferred provider list on my health insurance. Personally, I don't think you need somebody who specializes in WLS (although that would be nice.) Any good therapist should be able to help you figure out what your issues are and then help you resolve them.

These gas prices are crazy though, aren't they? We used to drive the hour over to Hampton to go for walks on the beach on the weekends, and now we hardly ever leave the house any more!

While I do not have a particular counselor in mind, I have heard good things about this organization.  http://www.genesisbh.org/index.html  Call and explain to them that you need an intake appointment and what your particular issue is and they should be able to either fit you with someone that is knowledgeable or refer you to someone that is.  Just a note of caution when looking for a good therapist.....sometimes the first one is not always a great match, don't be afriad to say it is not a fit and be refered to someone else.  It only works well if there is a 'click'.
